Visited Guan’s Puchong outlet for the first time 5 months ago and today returned after such a long time.
Parking not an issue for Sunday brunch visit.
Great spot for group visit especially if you’re planning for food sharing.
Good espresso (dark roast, Driver blends which beans from Brew & Bread) - bold, balanced and fresh!
Kopi, milo and their ice mint chocolate also not bad - not too sweet.
Mee mamak, is okay, passed the Mee Goreng standard but unfortunately lack of the ‘mamak-ness’ taste, not charred enough.
As for their truffle carbonara pappardelle, unless you’re a truly creamy cheesy sauce lover it can be overwhelming - if you’re not, suggest that you share with others else it will be wasted.
Egg ham & cheese croissant 🥐 is recommended and can also be filling for a person especially if you’re a small eater.
Nothing special for omega half boiled eggs but it’s prepared to a perfection 😉
Other recommended item, nasi lemak (served on top of banana leaf) fried chicken and it’s perfected by adding sunny 🌞 side up 🍳
Nasi lemak had all the details, with crispy anchovies and fried peanuts 🥜, crispy and crunchy fresh cucumber 🥒, hard boiled egg, delicious and slightly spicy sambal and other condiments to accompany the fried chicken 🍗 like fried curry leaves, fresh thin slice onions also key lime (limau kasturi) - well balanced diet which enough for an adult.
Also had their kopi ice 🧊 and latte accompanied by sourdough butter 🧈 & kaya plus toast which also came with butter 🧈 and kaya.
Kopi ice is good 👍 and sweet but acceptable. Can’t go wrong with their latte, also above average.
Toast is just okay, nothing great and not bad either.
Sourdough on the other hand, can be better if only kaya and butter 🧈 can be served separately or applied thinly 😅 - had to scrap away all the thick kaya and butter 🧈 to taste the sourdough.
While during my latest visit, ordered their honey lime salad with fried chicken, espresso, mee hoon siam with sambal sotong follow by fried sotong and their signature drink Deja Brew 😎
In term of service, staff overall are very attentive and fast. Ambiance is nice and cosy even though weather is scorching hot outside.
Clean outlet although it’s really busy! And non-stop people coming but always have plenty of ready table.

Read moreI’ve walked past Guan’s (Pusat Bandar Puchong) numerous times without giving it much thought, largely due to its tucked-away location. Curiosity finally got the better of me, and I decided to step in—and I’m glad I did. The interior was a pleasant surprise: warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed with a cozy ambiance and a long, hallway-style layout. Kudos to the team behind the décor for creating such a welcoming space.
For breakfast, I ordered the classic kaya butter toast with soft-boiled eggs and a white coffee (unsweetened). I enjoyed it enough to order a second toast and also picked up an Almond Tiramisu (available at 20% off) for tea later.
Here’s my take:
Coffee: Smooth and serviceable, though it lacked a distinctive punch that would make it stand out.
Toast: Nicely crisp with just the right thickness. However, the butter had melted by the time it arrived, which took away from that delightful cold-butter contrast I was hoping for.
Kaya: Clearly homemade, which some might find appealing. Personally, I prefer the more traditional, slightly less sweet Malaysian-style kaya.
Almond Tiramisu: Unfortunately, this fell short for me. It was overly sweet, dominated by sugar syrup, and the texture leaned toward soggy and overly wet. While the layers were even and the base wasn’t too firm, the overall experience wasn’t indulgent. It felt more like a sugar rush than a dessert treat. Perhaps the staff could benefit from better product knowledge before making recommendations.
On the service front, there was noticeable hesitation and a lack of confidence among the staff, particularly in English communication. This was a bit unexpected given the establishment has been around for two years. Some training in this area would go a long way in elevating the customer experience.
Lastly, I felt the price range could be adjusted slightly to remain more competitive, especially when compared to other well-established local favorites offering similar fare.
Overall, Guan’s has a lot of potential and offers a comfortable setting for a simple local breakfast or tea break. With improvements in service, product quality, and pricing strategy, it could become a standout choice in the area,...
Read moreBeen a regular here and would always recommend my friends to come Guan’s. Finally returned to this place for a family brunch after few months being away, I noticed that the crews at the beverages-making section changed.
Ordered my favourite Cham ping here but the few glasses came tasteless.
My meehoon with fried chicken, I was highly anticipating it but the chicken came inedible as it wasn’t fully cooked. Couldn’t tear the meat. I informed the service crew and I wasn’t sure if she was having a bad day? She flat-poker face asked me if I wanted to exchange the plate. I mean… of course…? 😓 No apology, nothing. When she returned with a new plate, she just put it on the table corner and left. (???)
The service crew with red long hair. Hmm sorry for pointing you out but this isn’t the right way to serve your customers. Later on, when my family member asked for bird’s eye chili for our takeaway, she returned and threw the packed chillies into the bag. 😑
My new plate of fried chicken meehoon, lol.. they cut down the portion of what I ate from the first plate. Less a piece cracker, veryyy petty amount of meehoon, NO sunny egg (I cut the egg in first plate), this time the chickens came burnt (hmm just to ensure it’s cooked? Also, because it was overly fried, the skin was hard to bite sighs.). Is this the cafe policy? Anyway I was totally disappointed and surprised by the service given. Where is the quality control anymore? Ref pics: Untouched 1st plate vs 2nd plate that came
Your disappointed customers will always be watching til they exit the door. Today you lost a family of customers. And their recommendation to friends. 😓
About the takeaway soup noodle.. we requested yeemee but was...
