Been here numerous times throughout the years due to distance from home, usually for the decent pork burger which happens to be what one of my kids like.
Not a fan of the below average food quality and very deliberately misleading food naming from the new management i.e. kimchi fried rice actually being fried rice with a side serving of kimchi, tomyum pasta with pandan chicken referring to a piece of possibly pre-fried chicken, refried and then ribboned with a pandan leaf at the base, etc. Call a spade a spade will'ya?
Don't bother with comments, front counter is not manned with that sort of service in mind, in fact it's borderline arrogant imho. The previous management was at least tentative and very accommodating. With your pricing and service, you've got work to do and much to improve on.
When your young child says the 'food tastes like... nothing', it kinda gives you an idea what to expect. If the place is pet friendly, you may want to put a sign outside. Not everyone appreciates four legged friends accidentally jumping off their owner's laps and scurrying under the table while dining. I can get that from the kopitiam down the road easily thank you.
Portions are below average, seating space ample, car parking is easy, usually queit.
A hit or miss on this one, unfortunately the...
Read moreSo I have tried 6 dishes at this place and here are my thoughts:
What's good?
Tom Yum Pasta ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You can imagine this as a dry version of Tom yum with pasta. Totally savory and tangy like Tom Yum soup minus the soup.
Cajun Chicken Chop ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The chicken was marinated with Cajun spice and pan fried until it gave off a fragrant aroma. The meat however was a bit dry. This could be due to its time spent on the frying pan.
Hungarian Sausage ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This has all the flavors of a good Hungarian sausage - smoky and savory with a hint of spiciness and earthy notes.
Mango Salad ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another tasty dish of crunchy and freshly cut mango bathed in a tangy, sweet and spicy sauce.
What's not so good?
Fish n' Chips ⭐⭐ Avoid. The taste of the thick batter totally overpowered the delicate flavor of the fish. It was like eating bread.
Braised Pork Rice ⭐⭐ The meat was dry as it has zero fats and with a watery gravy that was more sweet than savory. Nope.
The milk tea was good. It came with milk tea ice and it was rich in tea flavor and not that sweet. So I was able to enjoy the rich tea flavor from...
Read moreWanted to visit this cafe for quite sometime but always forgot about it. So today decided to pay a visit. I'm not sure if it was unlucky for me to come at the wrong time. 1stly, there was a group of customer having some alcohol drinks & they were making hell of a noise. Then only realized they were celebrating someone's birthday. I just couldn't enjoy my meal in a peaceful environment. 2ndly, I felt cheated by 1 of the food item which is Maryland chicken chop. I'm not sure if I'm wrong or being ignorant. I thought I've ordered the wrong food but the waitress did confirm that is the right order. For the past so many years. This is the 1st time I came across a Maryland chicken chop that serve like a normal chicken chop without extra sausage, fried egg, corn, salads, bacon... It's a normal chicken chop indeed. And the passion fruit juice is so damn sour. I'm sorry that I've to give my honest review here. Others may have a good experience here but not me. I won't recommend it to my friends. But I do acknowledge that the environment of the cafe is...
