Comforting Flavours and Old-School Charm at Restaurant Serdang Kien Lee 🍜🍗🦐 Restaurant Serdang Kien Lee has been a long-time favourite of mine for a reason – their hot pepper soup and dry Shao Xing wine sesame oil chicken are simply irresistible! It's my go-to spot for these comforting and flavourful dishes. The restaurant itself has a nostalgic, old-school charm. While the premises might be showing its age after many years, it still maintains a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. You have the option to sit outdoors or enjoy the air-conditioned indoor seating, which is a plus on a hot day. Parking can be a bit of a challenge if you're aiming for the spots right beside the restaurant. My advice would be to look for street parking nearby and be prepared for a short walk – trust me, the food is worth the little extra effort. For lunch today, I indulged in their Atlantic flavorful hot pepper soup (RM17 for a single pax). It was exactly as I remembered – a robust and peppery broth brimming with generous chunks of tender pork meat and thoroughly cleaned intestines. It's the kind of soup that warms you from the inside out and has a satisfying kick without being overwhelmingly spicy. However, my absolute favourite dish here is their dry Shao Xing wine chicken with sesame dark soya sauce (RM16 for a single pax). The aroma alone is enough to make your mouth water! The chicken is perfectly cooked and infused with the fragrant Shao Xing wine and nutty sesame oil, all balanced beautifully by the savoury dark soya sauce. I can easily polish off two bowls of rice with this dish – it's just that good! While I didn't have it today, I also have to give a special mention to their rice wine prawns. If you're a fan of the distinct flavour of rice wine in your seafood, you absolutely must try this dish. It's another highlight on their menu that keeps me coming back. Overall: Restaurant Serdang Kien Lee offers consistently delicious and comforting local dishes, particularly their hot pepper soup and Shao Xing wine chicken. While the parking can be tricky, the satisfying flavours and nostalgic ambiance make it a worthwhile stop for lunch (or dinner!). If you appreciate authentic, no-frills cooking, this...
Read moreRestoran Serdang Kien Kee has that cozy, old-school vibe that makes you feel like you’ve just balik kampung. The place is set up like a hawker center, with zinc rooftops that’ll have you sweating if you’re not quick enough to grab a seat in the air-conditioned area. Luckily, we found a spot to cool off.
We kicked off our meal with the legendary lat thong (辣汤). Now, don’t be fooled by its clear appearance—this soup will have you reaching for the tissue paper to wipe your sweat! Packed with peppercorns and loaded with porky goodness like meat, stomach, intestine, and liver, it’s a fiery wake-up call in a bowl.
Next, we moved on to the Fa Tiu claypot chicken (花雕鸡). The chicken was tender, coated in a rich, caramelized soy sauce that’s perfect with a bowl of white rice. The addition of hua diao wine gave it a nice, aromatic twist that made the dish even more irresistible.
Then came the Drunken Prawn Soup. Oh my! A couple of spoonfuls, and I had to sit down. My face turned red from the hua diao wine-infused broth—it’s sweet, boozy, and packs a punch that’ll make you feel like you’ve had a little too much fun at dinner!
But the star of the show? The Pork Ribs Curry. The gravy was so rich and creamy, we didn’t leave a single drop behind. We happily wiped the bowl clean with rice—no shame here!
Restoran Serdang Kien Kee is the place to be if you love bold flavors and hearty dishes that hit the spot. Whether you’re craving something spicy, boozy, or just downright delicious, this spot won’t...

Smell awesome! Far away can get the good smell Thus quite a bit expectation for the quality, turn out just normal, as I have tried something better in Sri Petaling area (pepper soup with noodle 1 very nice :)), personally found the taste too heavy & strong, thus cannot eat much, half of the soup goes to drain later Price: Quite expensive, as considering the ingredients really just a little for RM16/pax, probably the soup using high quality ingredients? But won't purposely come eat ler Service: I order for takeaway, as I knew dine in not a right choice (a bit crowded & very hot, with hot spicy food, the summer will get even more summer), they will ask what you want, but don't expect any warm welcome or smile, is like with or without you is ok one
Can give a try but normal, no need purposely come again in my point of view...
