..........................................................
mid feb25
chee pau kai ... bland today
mui choy khau yok ... porky and tasty as always but a little too sweet today
yau chum wan yee lam ... lovely balanced sauce ... perfectly deep fried, crisp outside and fine flaky flesh within ... excellent
parking is challenging
........................................................
an evening in late feb25
1] ming har in yellow wine ... ott brutal, medicinal ... a fail as far as I'm concerned
2] scrambled egg with mock sharks fin ... what's the point?
3] yau cham wan yee lam ... overcooked, burnt bits ... richer soy today
not happy ... from actual 4s to 3.5s and that's stretching it ...........................................................
mid march 25 ... twice
only the yau cham wan yee lam and the mui choy khau yok were decent
toufu kang (tofu porridge)... as uninspiring as it sounds
king do phai kuat ... leathery slivers of meat ... weird "green" flavour ... awful
mixed vegetable, tofu and pork ... a totally bland failure
a little disappointing ... on the verge of a downgrade ...........................................................
early may 25
1] yau cham wan yee lam ... consistent now... good

downgrade: 3*s food &...
ย ย ย Read moreWe came to this restaurant for our Mother's day lunch after reading its review in The Malay Mail. We come to Seri kembangan quite often for lunch and have never eaten here before though we had passed by it numerous time. As we are fond of traditional Hakka food being Hakka ourselves, we had their signature thick tofu soup, paper wrapped chicken and braised pork belly with moi choy (a Chinese preserved vege). The thick tofu soup resembles the flavor of shark fin soup while the paper wrapped chicken is tender and palatable except a little too sweet instead of savory. The best of the lot was the braised pork belly. It reminded me of my mum's cooking in the traditional and home-cooked style . Overall it was a good lunch except they should be more conscious of the fact that their spartan environment does not give them the luxury of over charging ie RM1.50 for a glass of Chinese tea. Maybe RM1.00 is about right. Hope the suggestion is not...

Their signature dishes are tahu stew, pineapple pork and wrapped chicken, we didn't order the later.
Tahu stew is somewhat flat for me, I've had better tahu stew elsewhere, I blamed the quantity of meat crab and shrimp.
Pineapple pork is neither here nor there, the closest dish I'd relate is sweet and sour pork but minus the sweetness and sour. A good sweet and sour pork is hard to find.
While the Assam tilapia is on the light side, my friend like it. I'm used to rich and thick Assam. Fish was fresh I must say. I prefer the ginger grasscarp.
The lettuce is good with a rich fermented bean curd.
For an old establishment, I expected more. I was disappointed.
Avoid the weekend, this place will be crowded. Parking could be...
