Sensi Beach Lido — Restaurant in Marsascala

So I’ve been coming here for the last 10 years and this year it has really gone down hill.

Pricing has sky rocketed! €14 for just a burger. No chips included. The burger was swimming in grease! I couldn’t finish it as I felt like I was drinking it!

And then cleanliness is appalling. Tried eating there twice this year but couldn’t due to the mass amounts of flies. I understand a small amount will always be around you with food. But the table next to us must of had about 30/40 flies sitting on it. I took away my food and sat on a bench outside the restaurant area and was affected by none at all. The place needs gutting and cleaning. The staff are friendly but do nothing to help. Customers get there food and all you see is them getting up and sitting down having to run from the insects. They need to be spraying the surrounding area with insects repellents or even burning candles to keep them away.

With a prime location right on what may very well be Malta's only patch of sandy beach (kidding...somewhat), Sensi Smile lido can get by without making much of an effort. Customers will always be readily available as long as nobody is getting poisoned or scammed. Given their fortunate location, however, one is positively surprised at the quality of food served here and the prices at which it is served. Somebody definitely made an effort with my brie and bacon burger and it was all I could have asked for after a morning at the beach. Somebody made too much of an effort on my wife's avocado burger, which contained about 60% more chutney than it needed. The toddler was more than happy to clean up her plate of nuggets. Service was kind of like the service you get at an auto repair shop: pleasant enough, but both parties know there is more important business to attend to than making friends. Relaxing friendly place with good service and food. Lovely small sandy beach leading into the clear sea. Great for snorkelling, viewed a shoal of hundreds of sea bream feeding around the sea grass about 50 metres from the shore. Rented a couple of sun beds and an umbrella and spent the day here before going to the airport to catch an evening flight.
