Disappointing experience overall.

Unfortunately, our visit was far from enjoyable. The service was rushed and impersonal. We felt hurried from the moment we sat down. At one point, the waiter actually took our plates while we were still chewing, which was both awkward and irritating.

We started with the Bruschetta Mare e Monti and the Thai Prawns to share. The Thai Prawns were fine. The bruschetta was by far the driest we've ever had. The bread was more dry than a galletti, and the toppings were just as disappointing. The mortadella di mare tasted like canned fish, and the mozzarella one had a grand total of one cherry tomato on it.

I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken, which was ok. My boyfriend had the tuna steak. The flavour was decent, but he ended up with food poisoning later that night.

Out of courtesy (not looking for compensation or anything), we messaged the restaurant the next day to inform them. I've worked as a head chef for many years and know how important food safety feedback is. We received a response saying the manager would call me. I provided my number, yet two weeks later, no one has followed up.

The atmosphere, the view, and the back garden are all very nice though, but sadly, that wasn't enough to make up for the poor service and disappointing food. We will not...

During our visit to Marsaskala, we had the pleasure of dining at Zion Bar & Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The venue is expansive, offering various seating options: cozy indoor areas, scenic outdoor spots by the water, and a spacious back patio that exudes a super cool vibe.

We sampled a variety of dishes, all of which were satisfying. The staff were exceptionally friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. A unique aspect of the back patio is the self-service ordering system; you place your order, and they bring it to your table.

The only minor hiccup was the unavailability of certain menu items; upon arrival, we were informed that pizza wasn’t available, and when ordering, pasta was also off the menu. However, they graciously accommodated our pasta request, which we appreciated.

I had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante Zio in Marsascala, and the experience was simply impeccable. The restaurant offers a truly unique atmosphere, with the option to sit indoors or outdoors—either right by the sea or in a beautiful garden. All of this is accompanied by a well-curated selection of music playing throughout the day, which helps create a relaxed yet lively environment.

The food is exceptional, especially when compared to the island’s average standards. A special mention goes to the Maltese-style rabbit, traditionally prepared and absolutely delicious. The menu is wide and varied, ranging from local specialties to international dishes such as pizza, meat, fresh fish, burgers, and much more.
