Well, where can I start. I happen to have been the one to recommend the restaurant to my friend’s girlfriend for his birthday dinner. I’m sorry to say but I regret it.
We started our experience with ordering some wine. Ordered two tomahawk steaks, with the waiter saying that they weigh 1-1.1 Kg. That was fine, although we did find it weird that we were not given the opportunity to select our tomahawk steak since this restaurant is also known to be a butcher and has quite a large display for their cuts.
Then, the bad experience followed, tables which ordered after us, started receiving their food before us, while we waited and waited. At some point the staff realised that we were growing impatient, and a waiter came towards us and said in 5 minutes the food will be on your table. We waited another 20 minutes for it to arrive from that point. In total, the food took approx. 1 hr 30 minutes to arrive. This was kind of understandable, since it was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was fully booked and the kitchen looks somewhat small (although still unacceptable and this shouldn’t be an excuse).
The food finally arrived, and we received a medium rare tomahawk and an other medium tomahawk, cooked fairly well. The frustrating and disappointing part was that one of the tomahawk, was full of grass and inedible ligaments. At some point the owner/manager came towards our table and asked if everything was up to our standards. I happen to have not looked up as I was quite disappointed and I’m not one to complain. He remarked back to be with “idhakli wahda”, evidently noting and reading my body language that we were all quite disappointed.
In our opinion this cut should have never been served to any customer, as it was robbery to charge 80 eu, for a mediocre cut like that. Furthermore, charging us an extra 100-150g than initially agreed to, was also unfair.
To mention everything, without us even complaining we were told that we will not be charged for bringing a cake on premises and was also offered some digestive drink...
Read moreBrass & Knuckle in Naxxar is a recently-opened locale that offers a new concept within Malta's culinary scene by providing a wide range of high quality meat and deli items that can be cooked to order, and enjoyed as a dine-in experience, or simply taken away. In essence, Brass & Knuckle is a top notch butcher, delicatessen and restaurant, all three in one place. I recently visited on a Thursday night with a couple of friends. We thankfully had reservations for indoor seating as the weather was really playing up and the place was full to the brim.
The locale is beautifully designed and modern. The ambience is quite welcoming, yet it became so difficult when we had to put in our food order as the meat options are plentiful and all mouth-watering.
We started off by sharing a platter of cold cuts and cheeses from the deli and then settled for two 300g Angus fillets and a ribeye of veal. These were perfectly cooked to order. We had the option to choose our own side dishes and sauces and opted for potatoes cooked three ways: fries, truffle fries and mash. Everything was washed down with a couple of reasonably-priced bottles of New Zealand Pinot Noir from the extensive wine list. We ended the dinner with a fine dessert that was well prepared and presented.
The staff were all friendly and attentive however they do need some brushing up when it comes to serving wine.
All in all, Brass & Knuckle was a pleasant...
Read moreDinner at Brass & Knuckle was exquisite & delicious, Meeting the new Head Chef, Alex & his kitchen team was extraordinary, the restaurant was quiet & had a very modern touch For starters, I was presented one of the specials, beef croquettes topped with cheese & truffle sauce, mouthwatering!!! For my main course, I opted for 600grams of Aberdeen Angus Ribeye cooked to a medium temp, Truffle mash & Peppercorn Sauce, Head Chef Alex suggested for my ribeye to be cut in half 300grams-300grams so that they would both be cooked perfectly, and I agreed and regret nothing!! For dessert, i had the homemade cremé Brule, which did not disappoint!! 10/10 for food, atmosphere, staff etiquette & cleanliness 15/01/2023 Sadly the restaurant has not kept up consistency at all Ordered Cheuvre Au Gratin, what came out was a peace of ciabatta bread cut in half and toasted in an oven with an oversized peace of cambermelt cheese that was off,the waiter agreed that the smell was south ⬇ of cheese, Ribeye & roast potatoes were perfect, peppercorn sauce was watery and when i ordered a crème Brule for dessert and tasted NOTHING from this dessert,i could not be bothered to complain as no waiter was outside...
