Onella — Restaurant in Naxxar

You will not see me back anytime soon unfortunately. The first time we came a year ago we had a nice time however today was horrible. We were the 2nd couple upstairs arriving at the same time as another couple. Both of us chose the "onella experience" and waited patiently for our meals. At first it started off well however 3 other tables came in the meantime and 2 of them chose the onella experience as well... As soon as we finished our 2nd plate, we were left waiting for almost 50mins so that the 2 new tables that arrived supposedly arrived at the same plate we had. Soon after that, the plates that were next, the people that came after us had them before us and were left waiting another 20mins. We arrived at 8 30 and left at 11 45 only to have ate, 4 starter plates between 2 and a desert....

On the whole, it was a very bad experience and the staff were very lost throughout all of it.

Next time, work on a better organised idea rather than this...

My partner and I had one of the worst dining experiences at Onella. We chose the Onella Experience expecting a showcase of their best dishes, but instead, we were served the same cold cuts twice—first on their own, then again on a piece of bread they called focaccia. The food quality was shockingly poor, and the presentation lacked effort.

Service was even worse—slow, inattentive, and completely indifferent to our concerns. The situation escalated when I had an allergic reaction to the mushroom risotto, which contained an unlisted ingredient (tasted like cinnamon). Despite asking multiple times, the staff showed no urgency in confirming with the chef.

The final straw? A waiter raised the voice at my partner when we calmly raised these issues.

This experience was completely unacceptable. It’s not about the price—it’s about quality and professionalism, both of which were severely lacking. Would...

I have never in my life neither in Malta nor abroad was charged 28eur for 2 glasses of white wine just a normal Sauvignon Blanc. You managed to ruin my evening. Thank you so much,! You will never see my face again! I will answer you for your reply first of all you never showed us the bottle it could have been the cheapest wine on earth. Secondly you never told us it's Eur14 per glass I'm not stupid I would have bought a full bottle. Again you never ever told us that is 14euro per glass. notwithstanding that when we asked if you have a table upstairs you said no the couple that came after us also with a dog your staff offered them a table upstairs rather then being served on a pavement in the heat. Also the calamari fritte were rubbish and 14eur for two small little rabbit spring roles not even bigger than my little finger are...
