Marrobbio Naxxar Pizzeria Trattoria — Restaurant in Naxxar

I had been to Marrobbio once before and the food and service was great. Decided to go back a year later, and unfortunately that had all changed. The tables outside are crammed too close to one another, making it impossible to sit comfortably or for staff to pass and serve inner tables. 3 different people served us. We placed an order for mains, and after 2 minutes we decided we also wanted a starter so I asked if that's possible to order. After waiting for over an hour, finally one of the orders came out - the pizza, which was almost cold. After another 15 minutes, the starter and second main came out, at which point I was told because I ordered the starter late, it couldn't be brought out earlier. Overall disappointing experience with extremely long waiting times, which the staff excused with being busy, whilst there was only 4 tables with people at the restaurant. To top it off, as we left, we saw the chef taking a cigarette break, and he did not seem to be in compliance with any health and safety standards. His shoes (not kitchen shoes but simple everyday trainers) were filthy, his hands were even filthier, and imagining that this person just cooked my food, actually made me decide to never ever go back...

The waiters did not know how to speak English I asked them for a sprite serving size and they told me no and then I asked again what is the size of the sprite and she told me no and I said ok then get the sparkling water and she said ok, the food took an hour and a half to come. And then the waiter came and told me you have 15 minutes left at your table then you have to leave I mean what kind of restaurant is this where you have rent on a table it's so stupid. I highly don't recommend you going there as it is unclean and people screaming with the Madonna Children watching very loud videos I could barely talk and then when I felt very cold I told them can you turn on the heater it was such a simple task to turn on a heater by just flicking a switch and she told me no it doesn't work so they don't waste any more electricity it is such a...

I'd like to mark this as a bit higher, 4 1/2 stars but there is no option for that.

I ordered pasta with shrimp and the smell was incredible! It took a while to be noticed to order and the food took a while to get to me, but the delicious aroma made me forget the wait! While the aroma was amazing but the flavour was a bit lacking. I tried to add salt but the grinder was not cooperating.

Staff ARE super helpful, but I had to get their attention each time. Maybe that is their style, not wanting to bother people. I came alone and that tends to get one put on a lower pedistal in some places.Therefore, I'm not sure what the case was. It was a Friday, fairly busy, but not too bad as there was room for me.
