Unless you want to be possibly a victim of fraud, discrimination, and assault - stay away.

First of all I am Maltese and my spouse and his family from Mexico are visiting. They went to have dinner at this place (Step-In at Wied iż-Żurrieq) and were basically almost defrauded and assaulted by the owner (Glen Galea). My foreign family did not call the police because they are peaceful people but there were even witnesses.

First if all, they were overcharged for orders they didn't put in. Only at payment they realized that they had still put the orders not made. Instead of apologizing, they kept on insisting.

Then when asked to split the bills between 2 credit cards, arrogantly said that it's not possible. It's 2022 and this mediocre establishment is not able to do it or is it discrimanating against foreigners?

Then the cherry on the cake, Glen Galea in front of all the patrons pushed my mother in law so he can get to his desk. She almost lost her balance. And when confronted why he pushed her, he denied it vehemently and was also posing threathingly in the face of my spouse and father in law.

What a shame Glen brought on Malta and the rest of the excellent friendly service we always receive in this country. He is a shame, a bully, and an arrogant person.

Unless you want to be possibly a victim of fraud, discrimination, and assault...

I’m only leaving 1 star because I can’t leave any less, what an awful place.

The general atmosphere was non existent as there was virtually nobody else there.

The staff must’ve been to an academy of rudeness as they have no clue how to serve a table with any kind of decorum.

The kitchen staff must be cooking with their eyes closed, the food was simply appalling, the only item that we ordered which we enjoyed was the ‘step in platter’ which we assume is all frozen hence why it tasted alright. Bruschetta was awful, such dry bread and no real flavour whatsoever, the pizza in here is essentially fake cheese on a base.

I strongly advise against going here unless you are out looking for a bad experience.

Great location, wrong staff and management in my opinion. Lots of other poor reviews and I can understand why, only came here because the place I wanted to eat at was closed so there was little to no other option, only come here if you are starving, if you are starving and come here, get the step in platter as it’s something that even an animal...

Amazing view with terrible food. Our octopus was without doubt not fresh. Despite beeing literally less than a stone's throw away from the sea it had it's break in the ice compartment. Luckily it was removed from our bill. The Bruschetta was the best of all and okay if I had to guess though, the bread seemed pre-cut from the shop (assumption though). They also serve a Foccacia with ham and Parma and Ruccula. We asked for a plain classic Foccacia with olive oil and herbs. We got something best described as plain pizza dough with ruccula and olive oil. I hope in Malta Foccacia is not fundamentally different but it had no resemblance with whatever I'm used to from Italy. Last we had a Pina Colada, or rather Pina Colada Sirup with some Booze and a slice of Pinaple. Apparently no or only symbolic amount of coconut cream in it, since when is Pina Colada almost see-through? The straw was eddible that was the upside, and the view would be great if one could enjoy it with...

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in the year and a half I’ve been living in Malta! The service was disappointing, especially from a Indian waitress who was extremely rude. She literally yelled at me when I moved to another table under an umbrella to avoid the sun — another waiter had given me permission to switch, and there were plenty of free tables available. Yet, this waitress insisted that tables with a view were only for large groups, and she became even ruder when she realized my English wasn’t perfect, making it hard for me to respond. I felt humiliated and was almost brought to tears in a place where I was paying to enjoy myself. I ate my meal in just 10 minutes and left feeling depressed and very upset. As for the food, it was mediocre. The fish soup was nothing special, and the bruschetta was unpleasant — the bread looked overcooked and stale. If you want to keep your mood and appetite intact, I strongly recommend avoiding this place!

We were hyped for this place but came away sorely disappointed. We had to ask for menus to be brought to us. Drinks took half an hour to arrive and when they did the order was wrong and the waitress couldn't even understand simple English. When we finally ordered our food, we asked if the asian platter serves two and we were told that it does. We waited another long time for the food to arrive and the Asian platter we were served was small, it could barely feed one in fact. To add insult to injury, while placing it on the table the waiter dropped a spring roll (see picture) and did not acknowledge it or bother apologizing let along bringing us another one. We also asked for cheese to go with the pasta and mayo to go on the chips. As you might expect by now, they never arrived. At least the rest of the food was good but we will not be going back.
