We visited Agora in Ta’ Xbiex for a casual dinner, drawn in by the promise of Mediterranean cuisine and the restaurant’s stylish appearance. Located on a busy road, it still manages to maintain a sense of calm inside — and honestly, the location wasn’t an issue at all.

The interior design is where Agora really shines. With cozy lighting, tasteful traditional accents, and a modern flair, it’s clear that attention was paid to detail. The branding — from the logo to the menus — is elegant and consistent, setting high expectations for what should follow.

Unfortunately, the service was the dealbreaker.

From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed cold and unwelcoming. Not a single smile, no warmth in the interaction — not even the professional kind. We felt like we had walked into a private event where we weren’t exactly wanted. We asked for recommendations but were met with vague, unhelpful responses. The lack of hospitality made the experience feel flat and uncomfortable.

The food, thankfully, wasn’t bad. The presentation was quite good, with branded plates and good plating. The menu leaned heavily toward Turkish and oriental dishes rather than a broader Mediterranean offering, which might disappoint some diners expecting more variety. Still, the dishes were decent — not outstanding, but far from bad.

Pricing was fair for the quality offered, and on that front, there are no complaints.

In the end, though, the cold and uninviting service overshadowed everything else. No matter how nice the place is or how decent the food was, hospitality is at the heart of a dining experience — and it was definitely lacking. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend Agora, especially not to friends looking for a...

“Disappointing experience despite good food”

We visited Agora with high expectations. While the food lived up to its reputation, the service – particularly the attitude of the person who appeared to be the manager – was deeply disappointing.

I was with my wife and our two young children (aged 4 and 6) when we were seated at a table placed directly under a very powerful air conditioner set at 16°C. Realizing the discomfort, I kindly asked a passing waiter if it could be adjusted. He was very polite and promptly made the necessary changes, making the environment more bearable. Kudos to him.

Unfortunately, just 15 minutes later – while we were still waiting for our food – the manager decided to turn the air conditioner back to full power, completely ignoring our presence and the discomfort he was causing. We ended up eating in an extremely unpleasant situation for over 30 minutes, with no attempt from management to address the issue or offer a solution.

It’s honestly baffling that a restaurant aiming to be seen as refined and high-quality would entrust its service to someone so unprofessional and lacking in basic respect for customer well-being. Respect, attention and a minimum level of care are not optional in hospitality – and in this case, they were completely absent.

For sure we...

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at Agora Restaurant in Msida, and I must say—it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that blended modern elegance with a relaxed, Mediterranean charm.

The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and the staff were genuinely knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. Every dish was beautifully presented, showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients and a thoughtful balance of flavors. From the starters to the main course, each bite was a testament to the kitchen’s creativity and attention to detail.

What truly stood out was the harmony between tradition and innovation. The menu paid homage to Mediterranean roots while adding just the right amount of flair to keep things exciting. Whether it was a perfectly cooked seafood dish or a delicate vegetarian option, everything tasted as good as it looked. .

Agora is not just a restaurant—it’s a place where hospitality, flavor, and ambiance come together seamlessly. I will absolutely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable lunch...

When I went here, I didn't have any reservation but they still let me have my lunch. One of their servers (waiter) was quite rude. Not sure if because I do not have a reservation or if because I was alone. To be honest I was quite a bit disappointed on how I was treated knowing that I ate here because I want to eat somewhere fancy since we are celebrating our anniversary. Good thing there's another server (kuddos to Emmanuelle) who was so kind and accommodating. The first server also annoyed other customers for poor service. He placed a family of 6 to a table of 4 or 5 considering that other seats were free. The entire place was really clean and fancy. The jazz music complements the fancy vibe of the resto. I was not happy with my table since it's situated where the sun is hitting directly but it was my fault since I do not have a reservation. I ordered grilled sea bass, mussels, and a soft drink. The food presentation is good. The mussels were not that great but the grilled sea bass was too delicious!!! I definitely recommend the sea bass. Serving time was quite long. I waited for 50 mins until my order arrived. Overall, I would rate it a 4.3/5.

We had an unforgettable evening at Agora Restaurant! Having previously enjoyed the best kebabs in Malta at Halo Kebab & Tacos, I was thrilled to learn that Agora is owned by the same person. My expectations were high, but Agora exceeded them in every way! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with nostalgic Turkish music setting the perfect mood for a cozy evening. The food was absolutely amazing! The handmade mantı (€13) was perfection—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The Adana kebab (€15) was among the best I’ve tasted outside of Turkey, with just the right balance of spices and tenderness. We also shared shakshuka, hummus, and haydari (each €5), and every bite felt like a taste of home. Paired with raki (single glass €5.5, double €8.5, or bottle options from €30-€65), the meal was elevated to a whole new level. We ended the night with tea and baklava (€6), which was the perfect sweet finish. From the attentive staff to the authentic Turkish flavors, everything about Agora felt genuine and welcoming. If you’re in Malta and craving high-quality Turkish cuisine, this place is a must-visit!
