If you’re looking for the best authentic Italian pizza in Flic en Flac, look no further. This place is a solid 10/10 when it comes to food. The pizza is absolutely delicious — crispy crust and fresh ingredients. You can taste there’s a true Italian owner behind it. 🇮🇹

That being said, the service was a bit of a letdown. Some of the staff were… let’s say, a little weird. Our waitress seemed quite disinterested in her job and barely smiled. Not rude exactly, but not very welcoming either, which definitely affected the vibe. It took away from what could’ve been a really great dinner atmosphere.

And before the pizza came, I complimented the smell of the pizza to the chef, I got no smile, no thank you — nothing. Super strange and honestly kind of rude. Definitely didn’t match the warmth of the food.

However, the owner (and another guy), were super friendly and clearly passionate about the restaurant. If the whole staff had this energy, the place would be perfect.

One more thing to note: use the toilet elsewhere before you come. The toilet is creepy and the door can’t even close — not something you’d expect from such a great food spot.

In short: Pizza – absolutely amazing. Service – weird. Toilets – avoid.

VIVA BASILICO!! I devoured my favourite pizza, Pizza Neapolitana, hard to find these days, at this gorgeous, authentic, family run pizzeria.

It was SO DELICIOUS!

The last time I ate such eye-wateringly, beautiful pizza was 10 years ago in Milan!

BASILICO only opened recently. The owners and staff are delightful and they work very hard. This family business deserves to flourish.

It is a BYO (bring your own) alcohol at present which I guess is actually a plus point.

Dining inside is within sight of the “engine room”, the kitchen, which is always a focus at a pizzeria! There is intimate indoor and al fresco street-side seating on high-stooled tables.

This is also a TAKEAWAY as well as a DINE IN restaurant.

The vibe is buzzy, casual, chatty.

After a variety of variable Mauritian cuisine, it was great to sink one’s teeth into a fantastic pizza base with a beautiful topping of choice done to perfection!

So huge was my pizza that the uneaten half was boxed for me and became a delicious picnic lunch on the beach the next day.

Even just as one meal, Basilico is a great value venue.
