I gave 3 stars for food but If i had taken only the calamari steak (grilled) I would have given 4.5 stars. The place is great ! Small cosy feel at ease, Chef is aux petits soins, very kind, gave us extra bread, etc .. the atmosphere, AUTHENTIC. The food - grilled I took a whole fish which has two prices (so really ok for ppl with tight budget) & PLEASE ORDER the calamari steak. DELICIOUS. After I left the restaurant, i only thought -tmrow im coming back for this again. I also had a small octopus salad entree - exactly how u would do it in a Mauritian Household. For a Monday night the restaurant was full & I had never seen a restaurant full on a Monday night in the town where I live. Both locals & tourists. Cocktails are REALLY affordable & you're given little goodies when you sit down. Im not going to say ALL about it because U need to discover. The fish was served whole and it was a little bit overcooked to my taste thats the only reason this review does not get 4 stars. Great thing about this place - NO HIDDEN COSTS. Whats on each basket is the price ull pay, thats it. The veggies sauteed - excellent. Overall not even salty ( i have low tolerance for high salt content), someone mentionned too much garlic but I did not find that at all, garlic pepper,...
Read moreWe dined here for a family meal with 5 of us. The wait was an hour long, 4 of the meals finally came out which my family enjoyed. However I ordered the lamb and it came out cold, i sent it back to be reheated and it came out shrunken and burnt. When i complained, they gave me chicken instead which was fine, although they also forgot to add the rice which came with the meal. We noticed they had added the lamb on the reciept and although I had not touched it, they were insisting that 'in Mauritius we have to pay for the cooked food' in the end they removed it and recalculated our total. Also we had the rum cocktail but couldnt really taste the alcohol. Decent food for my family, not the best service.
(Response to owners reply: very defensive response, speaks volume about the customer service. We did not take 30 mins to order as you didnt approach our table in good time. We spoke to 2 other customers sitting around us who were also complaining and waiting for thier meal. Check the picture of the lamb, it was clearly not touched, I dont usually eat burnt food and the only time i ate the lamb was when it first arrived and thats when i noticed it was cold. We will not be returning. I previously rated 3 stars, i have since changed to 1 star due to the...
Read moreA really excellent dining experience if you want grilled seafood in a vibrant urban style setting. The service was great, there is a drinks list, but no menu. You are taken to see what is on offer displayed in two chilled glass cabinets. Everything is served with the same side dishes of chips, rice, vegetables and garlic bread. You just have to choose from the kebabs (prawns, tuna, chicken mixed etc) or the lobsters and whole fish available. You can see your food being grilled on an open barbeque. You will also be shown a selection of starters to order to eat while you wait for your main to be cooked. Service was good, attentive, but not too much and not intrusive. Our prawn, tuna and chicken kebabs were excellent, nicely cooked stewing with quite delicate seasoning. I would have liked to have had a spicy option or a chilli sauce, but I suspect the locals and French visitors prefer milder flavours. There was a mix of customers with children and families enjoying dinner. Not cheap, but good value for the quality of the food and service. Worth visiting if only to look at the range of sea food in the...
