We stayed at Anelia in July 2025, and the experience was delightful. The weather was perfect — sunny and warm, averaging around 25°C during the day. Resort & Ambience: The gardens are beautifully maintained, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurants offer breathtaking views, especially at sunset. Since the resort is located on the western coast, you can enjoy spectacular sunsets every evening, ideally with a cocktail in hand. Food & Dining: The seafood was exceptionally fresh, and the dining experience overall was excellent. A highlight was the coffee delight dessert (pictured)—hands down the best dessert I’ve ever had. It was airy and light, perfectly balanced with the slight bitterness of coffee. Another standout was the “raw” fish dish, which had a sushi-like, ceviche-inspired flavour and was incredibly fresh. However, a minor disappointment was that the much-advertised lobster, prominently displayed on the resort’s website, was not available during our stay. Activities: We enjoyed several activities, including kayaking, snorkeling, and swimming with dolphins. The dolphin swim was an unforgettable experience, but it’s worth noting: Snorkeling and dolphin swimming cost extra. The boathouse only accepted cash, so we had to walk about 20 minutes into town (and back) to withdraw money. The website lists pedal boats and a glass-bottom boat, but these were unavailable at the time of our stay. Conversely, swimming with dolphins, which was available, isn’t mentioned on the website. Accommodation: The rooms were comfortable, but they could use some attention to maintenance. A few inconveniences stood out: The TV selection was limited—only one English channel (BBC). The shower water was cold early in the morning and late in the afternoon, likely due to the solar geyser. It is difficult to walk on the beach, as the sand is very coarse and hurts your feet. You need water shoes to walk on the beach. Overall Impression & Suggestions: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Anelia for its stunning sunsets, beautiful grounds, fresh seafood, and excellent activities. However, the website needs to be updated to reflect current activities and remove outdated information (such as the lobster picture and unavailable boat activities).

Lets start with the good: The best part of the west coast is the stunning sun sets....and it did not dissapoint! You can lounge around the infinity pool and take in the sun set or drink a cocktail at the Dolphin Bar. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The room is spacious, shower is big and the bed comfortable. The food was great with lots of variaty and every evening there was a different theme so the food was mostly different every evening. The breakfast was also good but it was the same every morning. On wednesday we had dinner next to the sea (weather permitting) which was awesome. The boat house assisted us with kayaking, snorkling and dolphin watching and we even got the oppertunity to swim with the dolphins...an unforgettable experience! The last 2 activities does have an additional cost and they only take cash. I had one of the best massages at the Garden Spa and we enjoyed playing table tennis. But unfortunately it was not all good: There was a few things broken in our room with torn wallpaper and it could have been cleaner. The staircase to the natural sea swimming pool is broken so you cannot swim in the sea (there are lots of rocks with only a small beach). The shower had intermittent hot water. The tv only had about 8 channels with only 1 english channel (BBC). Some of the activities mentioned on the website was not available (glass bottom boat, paddle boat). So, overall we had an amazing and unforgettable 6 day stay at Anelia Resort and Spa 🙂

For our honeymoon, we stayed at Outrigger Resort for four nights and the remaining three nights at Anelia Resort, and overall, it was a decent experience. While Outrigger is luxurious and lavish, Anelia is decent. The property is good and comfortable, but not particularly lavish or extraordinary. The food was just about okay with limited options, so if you’re looking for a wide spread or gourmet dining, you might be left wanting. On the positive side, the resort is affordable compared to many others in Mauritius, making it a good choice if you’re looking for a budget-friendly stay. They also offer some nice complimentary perks for newlyweds, which added a special touch to our trip. Also, there are good cafés and convenience stores nearby, so it’s good. In short, it’s a good place for a simple, pocket-friendly stay with a few thoughtful extras, but don’t expect a luxury experience.

We arrived on sept 2nd and was greeted by the reception staff , first impressions were positive , we were sat in a room near the reception and filled out the check in forms , the room wasn’t tired and in need of updating . We were told at 10am our room wouldn’t be ready until 2 pm so we went for a walk around the complex , that’s when we really saw the hotel and surroundings for what it was ||The furniture is in bad need of updating , the poolside table and chairs look like they’ve been salvaged out of a skip , none of it matches , the pool near the bar and directly on the restaurant was dirty and dried up , birds were using it to bath in . The beach is nothing like the pictures on the website , there is that much broken coral and seaweed that it’s very difficult to walk on with shoes on , you don’t stand a chance walking barefoot . You can only go so far out as it’s a thoroughfare for boats , it’s not a private beach for guests only , lots of locals wandering through ! A few hundred yards up the beach and you come across the local druggies and homeless , every morning we’re walking past their pile of drug taking paraphernalia! The hotel provides free use of pedal boats and kayaks but the tide is never high enough to, your told to come back at a certain time to find no one there . We went on a dolphin trip with the hotel and were charged 1500 rupees each but a couple the day before were charged 1000 rupees each , work that one out 👍 ||The room when we finally got it was basic and in need of upgrading , curtains hanging off , patio doors don’t lock , shower runs hot and cold , air con doesn’t work , a dirty pair of pants on the pergola below our balcony ||The games room has seen better days , pool table out of order ||There is a spa and gym but we didn’t use them so can’t comment on them ||There is another pool that is nice but very cold , only used it once so far ||Now for the food ||Breakfast is ok , not much choice but there will be something for everyone ||Lunch time is absolutely shocking , it’s a total mishmash , flies everywhere , the salad looks like it’s been left out in the heat . You can book the burger bar for the next day between 12-2.30 pm , the food there is better if you like wraps , burgers , paninis and sandwiches , all served with chips , don’t expect a la cart because you won’t get it , evening food is ok , it’s all pretty much Indian based which is great if you like Indian food , there are no themed nights , again flies are everywhere , if you have children there is NOTHING for them to eat whatsoever unless they like Indian food , drinks are ok but have found on a few occasions I’ve been stood a while waiting to be served ||This hotel really isn’t a place to bring children , there is nothing for them to do ||On a wed and Saturday they put on a show and everyone is forced to eat and drink on the beach , they close the bar and restaurant and move everything on the beach , if it’s a quiet drink you want , forget it , you have to go down to the beach bar to get your drinks ||The entertainment isn’t up to much ||If you are all inclusive the bar charges for drinks after 10.30 pm every night which is absolutely ridiculous ||Now for some good points , majority of the staff are hard workers , the wildlife seen here great , we’ve seen fruit bats flying around every night , there are at least two resident mongooses on the beach , the sunsets are beautiful ||Lots of ghekos at night , giant snails , lots of mice running around , a snake has been spotted , stray cats begging for food and hundreds of flies ||If you leave the resort it’s very expensive to go on trips , taxis rip you off , there is nothing to do around this complex at all , there isn’t even anywhere nice to walk to ||Myself and my husband and also quite a few others here are of the same opinion and tbh we looked at an early flight back home but refuse to pay £2500 ||My advice to anyone looking to come to Mauritius is don’t come to flic en flac , don’t book anything less than a 5 star and stay in le Morne , or tamarin or close to it . Hire a car and got get ripped off by taxis ||The only good thing we’re taking back with us is going on a private all day whale watching trip on a speed boat , we saw 5 beautiful sperm whales up close and personal , swam with dolphins , snorkelled with giant turtles , stopped at crystal rock island and had an amazing...

Avoid like the plague ||Rooms:||1.rooms are very spacious and to be honest after paying for a superior room I had a nice pool and sea view, beds are hard and pillows wasn’t great but can’t be to everyone’s taste, didn’t use aircon but did use fan and this was enough for us tv has a few channels on it not that I watch tv so didn’t worry||Not sound proof so can hear everything even the other toilets flushing ||Rooms were cleaned daily, but floor was still dirty had to wear slippers after shower or feet would get dusty and dirty again, secondly cleaner would take dirty towels and not put fresh ones out so would have to ring several times asking for towels, other then that room was good ||2,the FREE mini bar was surposed to be replenished everyday but wasn’t and again had to keep ringing up for this to be done.||3.no locks on the balcony door (thieves operate in area of hotel explain more down review) ||Hotel: ||Hotel isn’t like the pictures||1.cant use the rock pool the steps had fallen in and left to rot with the coral and fish (very sad) and to climb down the rocks as advised by reception this is just not possible and a massive health and safety risk (after my complaint this was taped off) the steps going down to the rock pool was also all broken and lifting up with holes in shocking disrespect to be honest ||2. Wouldn’t want to use the hotel beach (shingle broken coral mess) because this is full of local youngsters smoking weed and generally making a pain of themselves being rude taking the mickey out of guests and also stealing guest clothes on dryers and even round the pool, one boy tried to steal my phone ||These people are able to run freely around this hotel and staff don’t seem to care when you tell them nothing is safe ||Also was in and out our pool and using sun beds and stealing food was a joke ||4.some of the staff are amazing and will say hello and two staff members even helped my husband as he caught either sickness bug or had food poisoning but this is only a handful of staff and unless you are French or giving them tips from day one then you really feel your not wanted here,||5, food wow what can I say unless u like curry every night then forget eating here ||Breakfast was easy there was toast fruits yogurts and something for everyone ||Lunch didn’t bother but we did book the burger bar a few times this was nice can get sandwiches burgers and wraps and deserts with flys lol ||Dinner is the same every night and on a Wednesday and Saturday you are false to eat dinner on the make believe beach and false to watch there show whilst you are eating the main bar upstairs on these nights are shut ||Bar shuts at 10,30 to all inclusive don’t bother me dont drink much on holiday ||But be prepared that on a daily basis this hotel will run out of things ie bananas, coke Diet Coke lemonade etc it’s madness how you run out of things including vodka which is in almost every cocktail lol ||At dinner time no one should go to the bar to get a drink u should be seated and waited on apparently but whilst you are waiting half an hour for someone to come take your order then a further 20 mins for a drink this becomes stupid. ||Entertainment: ||Shocking shocking shocking ||There’s no atmosphere anywhere in this hotel ||No games no music round the pool and the entertainment is a disaster ||Of an evening whilst dinner is on going you have music playing there’s then a local lady that comes in and sings not the best bless her but surposed she try’s but every other day same stuff then karaoke great if u like this ||No great entertainment ||Nothing to do during the day and to be honest after 3 days here everyone was saying the same thing there bored no atmosphere and unless your French or Indian then your left alone ||Absolutely gutted as spoke to love holiday whilst I was here and I’ve had nothing bk ||Don’t waste your money flic and flak beach isn’t the best mont chosy is the best beach by far ||Don’t get taxis they rip u off hire a car the roads are great and you get to see the island ||Also the boat people at the hotel are charging way to much to see dolphins use an app called boat booker or get your guide ||Nothing for kids at this hotel and no...

I was initially concerned about some of the reviews before we left for our holiday, I need not have been. This hotel is a solid 4-star hotel with beautiful surroundings and lovely staff.||The good:|Staff - kitchen, waiting and bar staff were all nice and efficient too. They always said hello and were on hand if needed. Some of the management made a point of speaking to us at dinner some nights just to check in. I did find some of the reception staff a bit off but it didn’t affect us too much. One lady did make plans for my daughter to take a short team call in their conference room which was nice of them. 5/5||Food - was excellent, always something to choose from for when the fussiest of eaters. The location means there are flies and lots of small birds in the day around the restaurant, the staff dealt well with them ensuring hygiene was followed and all items were covered. Pleased to report we had no tummy complaints. 5/5||Drinks - the bar staff work hard and we’re all pleasant. The drinks were good, local beer (choice of 2) and plenty of cocktails to choose from. We aren’t big drinkers but do like a cocktail on holiday. I’d say they’re some of the best ones I’ve had, made fresh and a decent amount of alcohol, not watered down. A warning for those late night people, last orders is 10.30 pm. Suited us fine but just a watch out. 5/5||Pool/beach areas - the main pool was never that busy so you could always get sunbeds. We went out a lot to tour the island so didn’t make use of the main pool but did use the beach a little. It was ok, man made but had the most beautiful views. The main public beach was just a 5/10 minute walk around the rocks. But we were happy with the little hotel beach. Two of us went snorkelling but it wasn’t great tbh. Not the hotel’s fault. However, the snorkelling rock pool was out of order the whole time and was difficult to access if you did want to try it as there were sharp rocks all around it. 4/5||Lack of crowds - for us this was a plus. It’s not a huge hotel but during the day (on the days we stayed in), it was so quiet, not hoards of guests and lunch was pleasant as a result. During the day it was quiet, very low key with no music or anything but the peace suite us. 4/5||Rooms - we had beachside/oceanview rooms which were worth it. The only thing I’d say is ours felt musty as there was clearly a problem with the shower leaking. Our aircon wasn’t clean but on the second day they came to clean it without us asking so perhaps it was due. There was a big bed (it was hard as others said!) and lots of decent storage space so we had lots of storage. Decent bathroom too. 4/5||The OK/could be improved:|Entertainment was not the best. I understand the local dancing and cultural show is worth watching, but I think it was on 3 times when we were there. Karaoke - few people wanted to take part and it just felt flat. We tended to get our drinks and go and sit in the day lounge to play cards and games. It worked for us but it would have been nice to see a bit more varied entertainment. For example, a music quiz or other quiz, bingo or a movie night (with subtitles?). Having said that, we did join in with the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in the village with the team one afternoon and they hosted us very well and really welcomed us. Very grateful for that experience. 3/5||Snacks - while AI offered food for most of the day, we felt that the snacks were a little lacking. Some days we didn’t want lunch, were happy just to have a snack. Something like ice cream available in the day, or crisps would be nice. There was nothing much outside of meal times. There was afternoon tea but this was the same most days, self-serve crepes a fried bread or chicken boulette. They were fine and we often didn’t need anything, but a bit of variety might have been nice. Cakes/biscuits/ice cream or crisps or chips etc. It wasn’t a major issue, more of a suggestion. 3/5||Overall this was a lovely holiday. I felt we made the right decision booking here. We could walk into the village and Port Louis and other attractions were a decent drive away. The sunsets and location were breathtaking and I’d have no hesitation...
