I recently dined at my friend’s 4.3-star Chinese restaurant, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. The food was exceptional, offering a perfect blend of authentic flavors and modern presentation.

The fried rice was simply outstanding, with fluffy grains and a well-balanced mix of vegetables and proteins, making every bite flavorful and satisfying. The noodles were cooked to perfection, slightly chewy and coated in a savory sauce that was both rich and comforting. The pork dish I tried was tender, succulent, and perfectly seasoned, offering a melt-in-the-mouth experience. The chicken, prepared with a delicate balance of spices, was juicy and flavorful, highlighting the chef’s expertise in bringing out the natural flavors of the meat.

Each dish was beautifully presented, and the portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming. The restaurant’s ambiance complemented the meal, creating a warm and inviting environment. One of the best local restaurants I have reviewed. Red Phoenix, previously Chez Aline, is very popular locally for its outstanding Mauritian cuisine. The newly refurbished venue works really well with the surrounding and the neo-classical decor is top-notch. The waiting staff is proof of the legendary - minimal sarcasm intended - Mauritian hospitality. Kudos to our waitress who kept out plates arriving, our glasses full, and our hearts light with joy!

The food was what should be expected of any decades-old street food vendor/ small snack wanting to play in "la cours des grands": authentic mauritian flavours, blend of Chinese cuisine and Asian spices, fresh sea food and robust fiery notes on demand. 10/10 to the seafood soup which has nothing to do with the bland, pale copy available on the menu of a popular seafood restaurant in Bagatelle (wink wink).

All in all, a perfect evening with loved ones with remarkable food and a lovely ambiance. I would have sung my throat out if my voice and the oh-so-jovial staff permitted it. Food for the soul and...

Our experience at Red Phoenix Restaurant was completely ruined by one of their waiters ; a young man with the worst attitude you could ever imagine. As soon as we entered, he rushed to our table demanding to take our order before we even had a chance to open the menu. When we politely told him that we needed a few minutes to decide, he showed clear irritation, turned his back on us, and walked away rudely without saying a word.

That kind of behavior is totally unacceptable in any restaurant. A waiter’s job is to make customers feel welcome — not to make them uncomfortable and disrespected. His attitude was arrogant, unprofessional, and downright unpleasant.

No matter how good the food might be, service like that completely ruins the dining experience. The management seriously needs to train their staff on basic customer service and respect. I definitely won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this...
