This is my 4th restaurant review ever, and it’s tough to write. I really wanted this place to be great. It was rated 4.9 stars and we were excited to try it. We saved it for our last night in Cabo.
Let me start by saying the servers were attentive, and my margarita was delicious. In fact, all our food was very good. So how did it go south?
Let me start with the reservation. Online would not allow me to book anything but 5:00, so I thought it was just very popular. But actually the dinner service doesn’t even start until 5:30, and it was just a fault of the online reservation system.
We arrived by Uber and were given some vague directions down to the restaurant, which we couldn’t find—probably because it was completely empty and quiet (see above)— and we ended up walking around awhile until we could find someone to ask and point us in the right direction.
We ordered a “shareable” menu item…asked if it would feed 3 people and were told that it would, but really it was no bigger than an entree for one. I wish I had asked how many ounces the “steak” was going to be…if I had to guess, I’d say 5oz.
I say “steak” in quotations because what we received was pork. It looked like pork, smelled like pork, and tasted like pork. It was not the color of beef AT ALL. I called over the waiter. He called over the manager she asked if I wanted to speak with the chef. Everybody is telling me it’s beef, but it was not.
So basically, I paid $100 for a 5oz piece of pork, 6 shrimp, 3 mouthfuls of mashed potatoes, and some veggies. I’m not afraid to spend money on dining, but we spent $300 in an hour and left hungry. We went back to our hotel and ordered more food.
Also, there was a service charge quietly added into our bill, with no mention of it…and then a blank space to leave a tip. I noticed it, but I’d imagine most people would not.
We ate fabulous meals every night this week in the Cabo Bello area, but this was the only night I felt totally ripped off.
Like I said, it’s a hard review to write. The ambience is lovely, the servers were attentive, the food was good….and yet…I felt cheated and hungry...
Read moreAmazing experience! The menu is inspired by the garden on the property, including the drinks. My husband and I both had the Garden martini! William suggested a few items, the beef tenderloin and the zucchini noodles with cauliflower cream sauce! So delicious! Our favorite was the tuna carpaccio. For dessert, the chef Issac brought us something special for our anniversary. A cheesecake with strawberry balsamic sauce with fresh made whip and ice cream. This was honestly the best dessert I’ve ever had! Such a great...
Read moreWe needed a good meal away from our all-inclusive resort and Las Estrellas was perfect. We called ahead and our table for 12 was waiting for us when we arrived. The restaurant sits within a resort and we felt privileged to be welcomed into this upscale setting. The menu is packed with options for vegetarians and carnivores. The fish of the day was outstanding, I had it blackened, and our group also raved about the assortment of artisan pizzas. It's just...
