This is the best food I've had thus far in Cabo. It is very expensive for the area, but you are paying for the quality, and it is absolutely high quality.

It is also very important to note that this is a restaurant that explicitly has vegan options available, which is important as my wife is vegan, and she very thoroughly enjoyed her food as well.

I ordered the seared Scallops, Zarandeado (one half of a mahi-mahi, grilled in a special manner), and the esquites, followed by the Churro+Buñuelo dessert plate.

The seafood appeared to be incredibly fresh, either acquired same-day, or at minimum never frozen. The flavor and tenderness were both at an absolute maximum, and the zarandeado came with fresh taco-size flour tortillas (that were heavenly), so you can hand-make some fish tacos for yourself.

The sauces were packed with flavor, but were also just barely on the edge of tolerable in terms of spiciness, but I have low tolerance so no points deducted for my weakness.

The esquites was everything that is wonderful about street corn, without having to deal with the messiness of the cob. Spoonfuls of pure delicious.

The churros and buñuelos were fresh, and came with incredible delicious chocolate and caramel sauces. The churro in particular was presented in a unique, entwined circular shape that was very visually pleasant and also didn't change anything about the texture or flavor you'd expect from a churro.

The flavors were made with Mexico or baja-specific alcohols where possible, and according to our waiter, the produce was as local as was possible, and the fish was either obtained offshore, or from El Pescadero not too far away. Given the incredible freshness, I'm inclined to believe him.

Most plates are $100 American, though they have a deal that allows you to build your own prefixe menu using any but the most expensive dishes (the new York steak and the zarandeado) all for about $105 (at the time I went, ofc the exchange rate will change)

The service was very attentive, knowledgeable, and were very honest about the size and relative quality of the drinks and food.

The quality of the facilities was incredible, the Esperanza resort is beautiful and very, very well-maintained, and the staff were pleasant to interact with.

My wife has issued an edict that we must go back to this restaurant at least once every time we're in Cabo, and I have...

As a general rule I have found that restaurants that offer a great view rarely have good food. Cocina Del Mar absolutely falls into this category . The location is absolutely beautiful, overlooking the cliffs and the ocean, and the décor is wonderful. The food, on the other hand is disappointing , particularly given the high prices.

The service is good, and the waiters are very effective at scaring you away from bad choices. When asked about an appetizer of wild Pueblo mushrooms, I was told it was just a bunch of mushrooms on the plate. I was also steered away from the octopus and from a few other dishes. Given the quality of the recommended dishes, I can’t imagine what the steer away dishes were like.

The menu is price fixed, with the “Chinese menu approach” two from column a two from column B. An appetizer of oysters were fresh, and oysters were flavorful. The accompanying sauces were absolutely nothing special which at these prices they should be. Highly waiter recommended scallops were, again very fresh, but the preparation was nothing impressive. Beet salad ( for some reason listed on the menu under the raw section, though they were quite cooked) was something you would get any neighborhood restaurant, and nothing special at all.

The main courses were where the menu really fell down. “Rib steak” was entirely flavorless. Way underseasoned, not very well marbled, and impressively bland for a steak . The also highly recommended parrotfish entrée was not properly cooked and not tasty at all.

The star of the evening (other than the view) was clearly the desserts. Molten chocolate cake filled with ice cream was fantastic, and a banana soufflé very good. Clearly the pastry chef is talented, and perhaps should take over the kitchen. The desert is the only saving grace that stopped this from being a one star review.

If a beautiful view, and a very beautiful location is more important to you then food, then this restaurant is a great choice. However if you’re a foodie I...

My wife and I decided to splurge our last night and have dinner here. We expected it be pricey and were prepared to spend some money. A basic margarita was $25 which was weak and a glass filled with ice. We had the tuna app and it was decent but for $28 it lacked elegance and presentation. We accompanied that with Fresh Burrata which was basically a big piece of mozzarella and some tomato puree, at $30 is was also a major let down. For the main course my wife had the special, Sea Bass which came out as a very small portion and was raw in the center and varying degrees of cooking consistency, $40 for another disappointment. I was hungry so I opted for the rib eye which was cooked nicely but the meat had a disturbing taste, for $67 ala cart it was too another disappointment. We had 2 sides, asparagus and crushed potatoes which were both good but not $25 good. Overall our bill came to $275. A major disappointment! This place has a great view but it is charging 5 star prices and only delivering on mediocre service and food. For these prices you would expect outstanding service and incredible food. I realize that this is located at a very expensive resort but i have to wonder if the rich would be critical of this or just pander to their egos and say it was marvelous. Unless you just have money to waste i would not recommend this place even if I was extremely wealthy. You work hard for your money and deserve so much more. Do yourself a favor a visit one of the many great restaurants at a fraction...
