Both Lionfish locations in Tijuana, are "overated decent food at a just a little high price". Let me begin by telling you that I've been literally all over the world and have experienced a wide variety of tastes, cultures and textures. From the market streets of Mexico City, to the surreal brunch at the Ritz Carlton Gran Canal in Abu Dhabi, from the local street food stands in Amman to the Alain Ducasse à l'Hôtel de Paris. I am not intended to appeared to be the most knowledgeable guy in the industry whatsoever, I am however, in the pursuit of one thing, the most delicious dishes in the world.
Lionfish is a local Mexican seafood restaurant with a hint of Americanized culture fuzed style. The appetizers are colourful and tasty, but a little heavy on price, if you ask me. Their dishes, specifically the tacos, while fast at serving, tend to be a little cold and missing a tad of flavor. The presentation of the dishes is somewhat pretty and they seem to show that they are really trying. There are obviously other options besides tacos. My personal favorite is their version of "pulpo a las brasas", it almost never disappoints and it can be shared with a few others, leaving enough room to try something else. The desserts are typical of a medium class restaurant, but meaningful, and a select few could compete in the industry. I'm obviously talking about their "pastel de elote con nieve", that would be the pastry version of the girl you take home to your mother, in a word, superb! Oh, And don't forget to ask for your carajillo with it.
Drinks! a little background on me, I develop perfectly fine drinking a bavarian franziskaner beer, Tecate beer or a Glenfiddich India pale ale cask finish or a 1996 Dom Perignon. Their drink variety is just "okay" but I do have to single out their flamed mezcal cocktail, it has a robust body with an acidity hint in it's atmosphere, which entirely redefines the concept of mezcal and could cure you soul. Their beer selection is poor and common, you can find their beer selection at ANY licor store in the world, but is served extra cold, which is the only good thing.
Hope you enjoyed this brief redaction of a restaurant with potential to become a top 5 in the region but conforming with being just average. Hopefully lionfish tie up their game and go from an overated family friendly restaurant to a must dine...

Atmosphere The atmosphere was amazing, you are up on the top of a building which might as well be the top of the world! The restaurant is clean, has beautiful modern decor, and is very lively! It can fill up fast so be sure to have reservations or be ready to be patient. They have both terrace and inside seating and each have their advantages, so choose at your liking!
Service This service was unmatched! I feel like I had at least three servers/food runners and all of them were attentive, quick, and absolutely pleasant. It was a light struggle due to the language barrier but they made a dynamic effort to make us comfortable!
Food This food was some of the best food I have eaten anywhere! I ordered the LionFish and was not disappointed! The flavors were completely developed, the plating was very high end, and everything was fresh and hot. Unbeatable experience especially because with drinks and huge plates we paid little to nothing in usd. This place IS A MUST when in TJ.

Read moreWent again and this time I got the best service I've ever had. Denisse was our waitress and she was outstanding. By far the best service I've ever had in this restaurant. She was kind, charismatic, and eager to help. In past experiences, I've been asked to submit a review by their captain, not this time around, but I feel it is just fair to compliment their best waitress. She took it upon herself to give us a great experience and took care of minimal details to make sure we were comfortable. At one point, she even decided our coffee was dripping too much and took such delicate care to clean it up when we didn't even notice there was coffee dripping under the cup, lol. She would also pass by and ask if we were doing okay and would just take the finished plates and replace beverages right away. We ordered an avocado toast as an entry, an omelet, chilaquiles, coffee, mimosas, and mojitos this time around. Definitely...
