Maple Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch & Dinner — Restaurant in Baja California

I'm going to leave this message in English since the majority of the people who come here are Americans. My family & I came to the restaurant to eat breakfast after working on our ranch. We love to support businesses in the area. Our ranch has plenty of food and we love to cook at home. This time, we all said let's try out the place, Maples. What a huge mistake. They weren't too busy. Obviously, when we came in, the waiters and the host who sat us down judged us based on what we were wearing. Yes, we just worked. Yes, we were a little dirty, but they judged us, and we didn't have money and served/attended us 45min later. Several Americans were served around us, however, because we were Mexican and born/raised here. They ignored us. The portion size was super small. My lil nephews 5year old plate was larger than the adult servings. We have never been mistreated in Tijuana or Rosarito since we have been here since the 50s. My father, who is 80 years old and a hard-working man, was very shocked at how we were treated. Within our 200 acre land we have spread the word not to come or support Maples. We were very disappointed and said that us being Mexican were treated and feel as if we were discriminated against because of what we were wearing. Now, I wonder why this place has had different owners and name changes...

I looked at Maple's website before going to the restaurant. The time they spent describing the benefits of Chemex and French Press coffee made me think this coffee will be a treat. Unfortunately, I saw powered creamer packages on the table. When I asked if the have half n'half for the coffee I was met with a puzzled look, followed by having had to describe what I meant. The server asked and answered no. Yuk! I hate powdered creamer. One would think with their coffee build up and special barista drinks, having half n' half would be served. My eggs benedict was fair. What's with the mashed potato balls and three cherry tomatoes? All cold, tasteless. Suggestion- Just make county fried potatoes with onions and bell peppers. My husband ordered steak and eggs. He is Mexican. He usually can't start his meal until tortillas or bread is on the table. He was truly hungry and started his meal. A server finally brought the tortillas between 13-15 minutes late. The raspberry "marmalada" is suitable for French toast, pancakes, etc. It was delivered late and cost 29 MXN. Offer a strawberry or apricot preserves instead to top english muffins, biscuits, etc. Bottom line, we should have left when I saw the powered sugar. We should have...

The first time I visited this restaurant I will say I enjoyed my breakfast. I was even excited to bring my other family back.However this time it was lacking taste, service and experience. My salad was a two chopped apples, with a very basic spring mix that I could purchase at Costco. The dressing lacked seasoning as in spices to highlight its flavor. The green chilaquiles tasted sweet. Almost like store bought salsa over chips from a local tortilla shop. My biggest issue was you don’t serve a prime cut if you can’t cook it to the right temp, the first time it came out it was red barely even rare , the second time it was still too red and finally the third time it was well done and dry. They served it on the same dirty bloody plate If I’m going to pay at least $30 dollars for a cut of meat you gotta get it right.

They didn’t really seem to be aware of the fact that we didn’t enjoy our experience at all or even care. The serve was ready to get us out the door. I didn’t enjoy myself at all.

I will definitely not be returning.
