We had an amazing evening at Restaurante Arrayan in Bernal for our 10th yr wedding anniversary on 08.25. My husband had made reservations at Arrayan but it was a surprise to me so I had no idea where we were going.

My first impression was very welcoming as we walked into the restaurant and were greeted by one of the owners (the wife).

As we sit down I have the best view, my husband sitting in front of me and the beautiful dining room behind him. What the owners have done with the space is absolutely stunning, a tasteful combination of modern architecture and design that merges perfectly with the original architecture of the casona that’s in place where they have built their hotel/restaurant.

The skylights and imposing windows in the double height atrium let through the intense indigo colours of the evening sky. The blue hues contrast beautifully with the amber tones of the warm lighting at the bar, the reflections on the stone and brick walls, the terracotta planters and the wooden furnishings. It truly is a very entrancing, intimate and romantic ambiance without feeling stuffy in the very least.

Their menu equally reflects their creativity and passion. Their dishes are a fusion of traditional Mexican cuisine and ingredients with a modern twist of originality yet all very balanced and tastefully crafted. We shared the vegetarian Pecan Tacos (Tacos de Nuez), neither one of us is vegetarian, but these were so creative and absolutely delicious I would return to Bernal just to have these again. The husband (owner) came by our table at this point to make sure we squeeze some of the lemon juice on top and let us know to this is their creation, you could feel the care and passion they’ve put into what they do. I had the chicken mole stuffed with goat cheese, plantain crisps and pineapple (again a balanced twist on a traditional mole dish). My husband had the Cochinita pibil lasagna made with tortillas. The food was all fantastic as were the cocktails, just delicious. One of the best meals we have had in all of Mexico

Five stars ⭐️ across the board, fantastic food, welcoming, hospitable and attentive service and a very unique and transporting ambiance in a space we learned the owners created themselves. At the end of the meal you feel you gotten to know a bit of who they are and how they shared their dreams through their hospitality. I wish them continued success and am absolutely grateful to have this as the memory of our tenth wedding...

Simply outstanding! Literally stands out and above all the other options in Peña. Think home-made and freshly-made; think gourmet Mexican; think owner operated. Food is really, really tasty (spicy dishes ARE spicy), drinks are also excellent. We were nine people, and every one of us loved everything. Favourite was the blue cheese eye fillet. (It is NOT down the alley Google sends you through; it’s on I....

A very nice surprise in the middle of Bernal. Outstanding gourmet food and wine . The hosts and chef were always close to us with honest suggestions on the best of their menu to suit our tastes. Beautiful place in a boutique hotel with terrace overlooking “La Piedra de Bernal”. Great experience, even though we were a large group. The Tenderloin in Gorgonzola cheese sauce was more than...
