Belgian Waffle Boutique — Restaurant in Cancún

A very nice looking place and clean. My wife and I were there at 6:50 PM and only two other people were there. Strange for a place so highly rated. My wife's tamarind frappe was very watery and had a mediocre taste. My chocolate milkshake tasted fine, but it was the thinnest milkshake I have ever had. It was way to milky. My wife's "first" waffle was cold as ice. She sent it back and the "second" waffle overcooked and thin. We are not for sure, but they might have thrown the waffle on the grill to heat it up instead making a new one. The second waffle looked slightly burned around the edges. She took one bite and it was nasty. My waffle was warm but not hot. The waffles taste was adequate but a far cry from a true Belgian waffle. Their mix for the waffle is too thin. The bacon was burned. When we pointed this out to the waiter he said, "Yes, sorry"...That was it. Any restaurant that serves burnt food and thinks it is okay is a joke. We left and went to Burger Street on Huayacan. They are simple but very good at what they do. Don't go to this waffle place. The menu looks great, but beware. If are looking for cold and burnt food and a waiter that says "Yes, Sorry", then this...

One star because they're regular coffee was good and the bread was warm. I ordered a campesino with a waffle. However, my waffle was soggy and cold as well as my eggs to start with. But by the time I received the syrup my food tasted as if it just came out of the fridge. Then my boyfriend ordered the waffles benedict and the hollandaise sauce broke (old reheated sauce) which tasted sour and chunky. The waiter argued that's how they make it and like here in mexico. Wow! If that is the case I feel bad for them that they never tasted good hollandaise sauce. At least they were courteous enough to take it off the bill, but not w/o a debate and online education of what the sauce is supposed to look like. So instead, my boyfriend decoded to order a waffle and low and behold, it was lukewarm but at least edible. I am not sure if our waiter was new, if so then I understand some of the slow service and has much to learn, but not hopeless. It is a cute, casual, and comfortable place. Has a cute little playhouse for kids. Do I recommend...

El día de hoy Domingo 26 de mayo, asistí con varios amigos a desayunar, ya que teníamos mucho antojo de chilaquiles. Grato error, llegamos 15 minutos después de la apertura, llegamos muy amables y la persona que nos recibió, pues yo creo que venía cruda, porque ni siquiera el buenos días nos regreso. En fin continuamos con lo habitual, te traen el menú, y pides bebidas. Se piden 3 horchatas 2 lattes y 2 bebidas más que no recuerdo, todo llega menos mi latte, no pasa nada aprovechando que no lo hicieron pido cambio a una horchata, en fin ya la traen y ordenamos alimentos, 5 chilaquiles y 2 enchiladas, llega todo, y se pide por favor 2 vasos con agua justo cuando entregan la comida, los vasos de agua brillaron por su ausencia, 2 veces los tuvimos que pedir. Conozco la comida de este lugar, he ido muchísimas veces, y la verdad, estaba de vergüenza, la salsa de los chilaquiles parecía agua, sin mencionar que el agua tenía más sabor que esos chilaquiles, estaban insípidos, las enchiladas directamente no sabían a nada, era como estar comiendo pollo hervido sin nada, fatal. Y tardaron un montón entrarlo considerando que sólo había una mesa. Pero aún mejora la cosa, terminamos de comer y los meseros brillaban por su ausencia, 10 minutos de reloj esperando a que recojan los muertos. Recogen la mitad y otros 5 min hasta que llegan por los otros, y eso que fue porque vinieron a traer la cuenta. Traen la cuenta nos repartimos los amigos para hacer cuentas y pagar, y me doy cuenta que la cuenta está mal ya que no se eliminó el latte ni se agregó la horchata, entonces llamo a una mesera que de muy mala gana se acerca a mi mesa y le comento la situación, me responde con una actitud nefasta pero al menos “amable” que lo va a checar. Quisiera aclarar que el latte tiene un costo diferente a la horchata sin mencionar que se pidió con otro tipo de leche lo cual hace que suba el precio un poquito más. Llega la mesera nuevamente y me comenta que el encargado no cambio porque es el mismo precio, a lo que prosigo a responderle que no es verdad, que el precio es mayor. Es una tontería son 15 o 20 pesos de diferencia, sin embargo; cualquiera que se dedique al ámbito gastronómico sabe que se lleva conteo en el sistema, (o al menos deberían) y el tu agregar algo que lleva insumos diferentes y un costeo diferente te afecta en llevar el control correcto. En fin ya regresa ahora el encargado y me comenta que si quiero cambiarlo y la verdad si ya fui un poco más serio y le dije que lo deje así, honestamente ya estaba molesto por el mal servicio, y la pésima actitud de el personal sin mencionar la pésima comida. Es la primera vez en mi vida que me levanto y me voy sin dejar ni siquiera el 10% propina, estaba realmente enojado, la actitud que traen es muy pesada, y para colmo luego me vengo enterando que a un compañero le quisieron dar mal el cambio.
