This is an excellent well run local bar/ restaurant/ dance platform with a very good limited menu and excellent cocktails and some very cool special Smokey ones u can check out yourself..don’t wanna ruin the surprise. The beers are cold and they use high quality liquors if you prefer cocktails. Not a pick up joint with thumping club music. Shorts , or long pants ,very casual clothing. Dress “respectful”. It’s not a club with bootie and other female parts hanging out or guys gyrating around.. If your gonna dance leave the flip flops at home It’s open air so it’s warm but that allows the breeze to flow through and the music doesn’t bounce off the walls giving a much better experience. ie they can play and you can still carry a conversation We went Saturday night as they have Salsa dancing with DJ from 8-10 and live band 10-2. Like most dance places they don’t really get going until 9:30-10 They also have salsa dance other nights..call to check. The vibe and spirit to us (clearly not locals ) is fantastic. The staff speaks very good English The regular dancers are very engaging and inviting to newcomers and as salsa dancers like us that really makes it very welcoming. Even if you don’t dance this is a great place to see some great dancers, have a good local meal etc …better than going to any overpriced tourist place. Cover is 100 peso on Saturday night (6 usd)..if your nervous about leaving your hotel don’t be..Ubers at all hours are very responsive and prominent in this area , it’s safe and the neighborhood is good…clientele are age 25-35 with a nice blend of 40 and up of us older folks who still dance. Family friendly but NO little kids..more like 20+. People seem to enjoy a cocktail or so but the dance “world” is not a big drinking crowd..they wanna focus on their dance..so not a place to bring your friends and act a fool at the bar..save that “good time” for your resort Menu is not big but very good quality. Better than anything u will get at your resort..they answer their phone in English and you can ask the hostesses any questions. They also have beginner classes on Tues and maybe Thurs night so if you looking for some fun and a cheap night out to get off your hotel property go for it…I don’t normally waste time on reviews but this place is merited especially if you wanna dance or learn...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with my experience at La Coyota Cancun. They charged us $100 pesos to enter at 8pm to eat dinner. They could have told me this when I made the reservation. The salsa band didn't start playing until an hour later than advertised, 11pm to be exact. They were amazing by the way! And when they would stop, the DJ played salsa again when they had advertised salsa and bachata. The service was incredibly slow, despite our waiter being friendly. Just to get a drink we would have to wait at least 20 mins. I am sure it wasn’t his fault, he was great! Oh, they also charged us $275 pesos just to hold our cake. The called it “cake service” on the ticket. They made it seem as if it was a favor. I would expect at least candles if you want to call it a cake service. As you can see in the messages, does not say anything about a charge. And we got nothing that was promised. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun night out or looking for great food or great vibes. Save your money and go elsewhere. This place is NOT it. Trust me that it was not a money issue. But I’ve never ever been charged to sit down and eat dinner and...
Read moreI don't leave many reviews, only if a place is stellar or there's something that people need to know. But La Coyota was great. I was in Cancun solo the night before my flight, and i sieved through Google reviews to pick this place. I had two excellent drinks, very high on flavour: concoctions that the very friendly Argentinian bartender created. I didn't get his band, but he's a talented mixologist. I also gorged myself on first Pollo Pabil (it tasted great, and there was a bit more meat than 3 tacos can fit) then on the Atún Tartare (well marinated tuna chunks on a pillar of tasty guacamole). My main server was Mara, and they will bring drinks in a chamber filled with rosemary smoke, for your enjoyment upon presentation of the drinks. It's all visually appealing too. You will be unlikely to regret it. And it was pleasure to dine here. I know that this place would make a killing in Victoria, BC, where I am from.
Their dj might be spinning bachata, which was new to my ears. They said that Friday and Saturday night it's busy with dancers.
It's a great place, they're doing great things for Avenida Nader in this...
