La Tlayu — Restaurant in Cancún

I remember coming here before when a nice lady was preparing the tlayudas in the back.. not sure if she still works here anymore. I returned after being away for a couple years and discovered that the taste is similar to before but not the same. Still good though.. the service is excellent. Prices have gone up about 10 percent, I'm not sure if have the promotion on Wednesdays anymore. Salsas are very good. Depending on how hungry a person is, the regular tlayuda can be shared...

Tlayudas are definitely a regional speciality native to Oaxaca, so finding this little eatery was a real treat. Even other locals didn't know about it. It's rustic and open-air seating (aka shorts and t-shirts are appropriate). But what won me over was 1) the variety offered, even vegetarian options and 2) the friendly service. Una experiencia Deliciosa! Sin duda este pequeño rinconcito de Oaxaca ofrece una delicia al paladar con ingredientes traídos directamente de allá. Las tlayudas , son deliciosas, crujientes , llenas de sabor , y se derrite ese exquisito quesillo en el paladar, el maiz tiene ese sabor tan autentico, tan reconocible. Las salsas, especialmente la Salsa Mixe, con su toque ahumado realza el por sí delicioso sabor de los platillos, con un picor apenas justo, son deliciosas. Punto y aparte es el chocolate con leche, Exquisito! es un moderado calificativo para tal manjar. La atención inmejorable por parte de Abraham , quien con mucho orgullo nos relata el origen de nuestros frescos alimentos y de las tradiciones y lugares para conocer en Oaxaca.
