A restaurant in Celestun, Yucatan, Mexico with an incredible view in front of the beach. Why 2 stars? 1. Celestun’s shrimp is delicious (it is small and really pink with an amazing flavor) but it wasn’t disembowelled. 2. This probably was the most annoying thing that happened to us. They have a parking lot that you can obviously use while you’re eating there. But there is a man that is supposedly taking care of the parking lot, he is very rude. When we were about to leave the place, he was shouting at us that we were taking a lot of time to leave and that he was going to close the parking lot. I want to add that we were eating there since 3 pm to 6pm, then we went to the beach for 45 min. This man was shouting things to us. Still, we decided to give him a tip, because he “was taking care of the car” and suprise!!! He said to us that we had to pay $50 pesos because he gave us 1 hour and a half. This is an abuse because other restaurants never ask you money for being in their parking lot and nobody informed us about this when we arrived to the restaurant. We decided to ask about this in the restaurant and oh, suprise!!! They told us that the restaurant only gives you 2 hours and a half, then if you take more time there, this man in the parking lot has “the right” to tell you how much you are going to pay. 3. The beverages that they prepare are not good. I drank a blue lagoon that tasted as cleaning liquid and the sangria was rare. Also, they were hot. Positive things that I can say: the food is good, but it can be better. Our waiter was very kind. The desserts are delicious, I recommend the flan napolitano and the coconut ice cream (this one is delicious). Orange juice is delicious and beers are super cold. It is a shame that a nice place can be so disappointing because they have this rude guy in the parking lot and the policy that this guy can tell you the cost of the parking lot (the restaurant owns the parking lot). Very bad, Los Pampanos, I don’t know if I...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place; beachfront seafood, cheap drinks, my toes in the sand and a sunset. If you have that going for you, you're establishment is starting with 5 stars from me. But Pampanos blew all of that. We sat down and waited, waited and waited some more. As the waiter walked by, we tried to flag him down. We eventually had to waive them over from where they were hanging with their coworkers, and after a brief discussion about who would help us, we were served. The drinks were fine, the Shrimp Ajo de Mojo was overcooked and the sauce tasted like canned garlic. The Blue Crab Mexicana was tasty. Our waiter told us he would be right back with silverware, but never brought any. All the wait staff was hanging out at a table, totally checked out. I've worked plenty of restaurant jobs where the place is a joke and expectations are at a minimal, but the most baseline of expectations were...
Read morePampanos is a restaurant at Celestún town in front of the sea. It has a good parking area, so you don’t need look for a parking space which is scarce.
The service is good and fast, while you wait for the food to arrive, the cold beer is must after a warm. We had three different dishes that we shared, all very good.
More beer was needed, but with the police control that is half way to Merida, you have to just drink water or soda. While waiting for the sun to come down, you will see the waiters start collecting chairs and tables to take them inside. So by the sunset the entire restaurant is closed.
One thing to know is that Celestún has only one carrier and nil data, so if your roaming carrier does not have agreement you wont be able to receive or make a call, less...
