We came to the explore the beach and decided to have a lunch. We dropped in to this restaurant just because it was right on the beach and had decent reviews.
We took a table with ocean view. No one told us any conditions on how much to order or how long we could occupy the table. The waiter came shortly and brought the menu. We ordered an octopus and shrimps, also chaya drink. The food arrived shortly. The food was fresh and tasty. The portion was not huge, but sufficient. I lacked some salad in the side to my octopus but otherwise it tasted well. The drink was fine. We paid around 550 pesos for everything.
The price might seem a bit too high, but overall the atmosphere in the place was very pleasant: great view, comfortable furniture, tasty fresh food, live music. I truly enjoyed the place. The service was fast and polite. The place had tables both inside and outside. A decent and clean toilet was also available.

La Palapa is one of the few dining options in Celestún, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype. 😕 We were asked for a minimum fee just to take a seat, which felt rather exclusionary and a bit off-putting.
We tried the Taco Baja, which had great flavor and featured hand-made tortillas—a nice touch. However, the overall experience didn’t justify the price. 🥺
A significant downside was the abundance of flies and dragonflies, making it nearly impossible to enjoy our meal. 🐝🍽️
My advice? Enjoy the flamingo tour, grab a taco at La Palapa, and then head to the public beach to relax. 🦩🌊 It’s a better way to spend your time...
