This is my seventh time to El Patio. I am always looking for a clean place to eat with a nice atmosphere and this place had great reviews. The food has been really good on many of my visits here. The service however not so great. The first time I was ignored for about twenty minutes before someone came to say hello. This last visit will make me not return and I would love to suggest the restaurant two doors down instead. Way better service and a really cute ambiance.
Back to el Patio. I ordered two coffees and a pastry. It didn’t come for fifteen minutes. I had to practically beg the waiter to bring me creamer. Tewenty five minutes go by before he comes to refill my coffee. I ask about the pastry I ordered and he says they don’t have it. I wondered why he didn’t tell us and ask us if we would like something different. It’s 11am and not packed at all. Honestly all the servers were hanging out chit chatting and not really caring that there were a few customers in the restaurant. There is barley anyone in the place and again four waiters are hanging out talking and I hear the bell ringing that food is ready. No one goes to look. Ten minutes later our waiter returns with our food that is cold. Not warm but cold. I send it back and they microwave it and bring it back looking like a slop of a mess. Just felt really gross and I was feeling annoyed that the beautiful Mexican love was not felt here. . The waiter asked if I wanted some bread with my order. I say yes. He perfectly brings it when I’m finished eating my microwaved eggs. Needless to say this will be our last time coming here. Bad service and really not a cute place to spend your...
Read moreI found this place looking on Google reviews and it looked decent. The restaurant only had one other family eating at the time we arrived.
We ordered a pina colada, a margarita pizza (traditional), and guacamole. A short while after we ordered, the waitress returned to tell us that they "were out of the traditional pizzas" and we would need to order the "premium" pizza. I asked what the difference was, and she said that they were out of the "Mexican cheese" and would need to use the "imported cheese" instead--about a 50% up charge. This was clearly a lie targeted at us because we are foreigners.
They brought out the pina colada and some garlic bread first, both of which were fine. Then they brought our guacamole with the pizza (unrelated to the star rating here, it would have made much sense to switch the order of the starters). The guacamole was just OK--way too few chips, but otherwise fine/nor exciting. The pizza had a really tough cheese on it and an odd sauce--definitely unimpressive for an unwanted up charge.
I would recommend strongly that you skip this one while in Chetumal. While the food is passable, there's really no reason to deal with an establishment that lies to up sell...
Read moreWe arrived shortly after the restaurant opened to find it mostly empty. It was a hot night so we got a table by the AC. The waiter brought us a nice garlic bread made from a croissant with onions and herbs and a balsamic vinegar sauce. Ordered the spinach dip and some fancy cocktails to start. The spinach dip was a little small, but everything was delicious and arrived at our table within a few minutes of ordering. We then ordered pasta (carbonara and chicken alfredo). The sauces were balanced and my chicken was both cooked and seasoned perfectly. We had some mezcal and another round of drinks. Everything was delicious and our server was attentive and kind. The atmosphere was relaxed. The inside of the restaurant was tasteful. Those who say the service is poor are probably arriving late. We had no such problems. It started to get a little busy around the time when we were leaving. Prices were totally reasonable ($200-$300 pesos for most mains). Definitely would...
