On my first day in San Cristobal, I passed this taco shop and was delighted by the smell. The next day, I went back just to see what was on the menu. The cook met me at the door, asked me where I was from, and welcomed me to Mexico. We spoke for a minute, and while I have enough Spanish to order at a restaurant, I was certainly struggling. Nonetheless, he was patient with me and helped me find my words. When I ordered, he invited me to sit, and I watched while he cooked and cut up the food like a master.
The condiments were provided first, and I was extremely happy to see I had options on sauces ranging from mild, spicy, and 'prrpare to cry.' I personally love spicy food, so I was very happy with the bright red sauce. When I got my tacos it had barely been ten minutes, and the entire space smelled of spices and meat. I have to be honest, I had to force myself to eat slowly, otherwise I would have swallowed these tacos whole. Holy Mother. What I appreciated was that the spice wasn't just spicy, it was flavorful. Yes, I had tears running down my cheeks from the heat. No, it did not stop me. Just posting this review has me thinking about the food again, so I'm gonna wrap this up and walk that way now.

Read moreFound this gem on our second day in San Cristobal de las Casas and went there everyday after. The owner is a super lovely guy, who does the cooking and service all at once and still finds time to have a chat with everybody (even if their spanish is not the best). He's got the biggest choice of salsas you could imagine with the classics as well as options like peanut sauce or a pineapple pico de gallo. All in all the best tacos we've had on our entire trip, couldn't recommend La...
Read moreHands down the best tacos I've had from Tuxtla to San Cristóbal. The owner & operator, Octavio, has made a delectable array of sauces, each of which indigenous to Mexico and mouth wateringly spicy. The Al Pastor con Queso was grilled perfectly. Beyond that, I learned that the lighting and paint scheme were crafted and carried out by the owner. Everything is hand made, I wouldn't be surprised if he killed the bull and made the...
