Berlin 61 Hostel — Hotel in Chiapas

Basic, cold and humid. Our towels were literally wet for 3 days. There was no water when we arrived at 2am and no one was around to help; we asked the next morning and then eventually it came back during the day while we were out; then again no water the next morning, so we couldn't shower for two days. Note that this is not an issue of water supply as you might experience when there is a draught (e.g. in Oaxaca) - this is because the tank needs to be manually refilled if the level drops under a certain level so it's down to the hostel to make sure there is water in the tank. We arrived at 2am and our room had been given to another couple who were in bed at that time and no one was around to help us so we had to check all the doors available and luckily found one that was open so we slept there but it wasn't a good experience. Regardless of how cheap a place is, it's just not worth it. Shame because the outside area is cute, and the kitchen seems ok, but ensuring running water and adding some heathers in the bedrooms would...

I was told by a friend they recently lost a staff member and apparently that has impacted the customer service 😞 First, they left no key or lock to my room, when I told the gentleman about it, he nonchalantly told me "no problem, I'll drop the lock tomorrow" but I wasn't going to leave my laptops in there like that, so he told me I could leave them at the office - he then proceeded to tell me where the spare key was. I went out feeling weird about having to spend the night in an unlocked room as I'm a petit woman traveling by herself. When I came back, the digital handle wasn't working (numbers 5-0 and the pound key were dead) and after 10 minutes trying, I decided to spend the night somewhere else. The following morning I let the gentleman know about the situation and he was just making up excuses and trying to blame me because he sent me the wrong code, but even the correct one wouldn't work because the problem was the digital handle. Not good….not clean,ants everywhere ,humid ,no ventilation ,no hot water ,no one to talk to,you can hear anyone that is outside simply talking..will not recommend we couldn’t even stay for 1 night and our standards...
