Fabulous food (Italian, fusion, Mexican) served in the most beautiful atmospheric surrounds. Violante is the most gracious of hosts and has created a real sanctuary here in the heart of Taxco. It's lovely to sit out on the terrace but make sure to check out the ornate dining room as well, which is full of artefacts. This historic house belonged to William Spratling who was a large character in the history of silver jewellery and design in Taxco and being here gives you an intriguing glimpse into this fascinating period of history. I was lucky enough to stay upstairs in an apartment (you will find it on airbnb,) which has it's own terrace and the most incredible views of the city. With so many windows, the views from inside the apartment were also breathtaking. Lying in bed one night I could see the full moon rising over the mountains from one window and the divine church of Santa Prisco from the other - all lit up and glowing. What a treat! The location of Casa Spratling is fantastic, just a minute or two from the zocalo, reached by atmospheric lane way. And the apartment was so comfortable - a bright and cheerful space with a kitchen that is super handy for breakfast and snacks. I loved staying here, and from the moment of first contact till the moment I left, Vio was incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. She even took the time to give me a little tour of Taxco, which really helped with my orientation. A truly unforgettable stay and lots of great food to complete the experience. I can’t wait to get back there next year. Muchas...
Read moreSimply the worst experience I've ever had in Taxco. We arrived around 9:20 and the food came 2 hours later. Therefore the service was deficient, the food was inconsistent some was ok, some was average, the place is pretty and I'd have given it a second change if it wasn't for the disrespectful owner.
*When we asked why the food was taking too long to the waiter, the owner came back saying "I've heard you're mad, but I told you" and then proceeded to yell at us and say we were treating her badly while we were sitting without food in our table and then continued arguing when she came back with the food and even telling things to us on other occasions when we weren't talking to her! Also when we left and said thank you she wouldn't answer back or look at us, giving us a childish treatment. Making the whole experience an unwelcoming mess.
I wished they would read their reviews online because I've seen too many people saying the same thing about the waiting time, it's a shame for such a good location...
Read moreThis is was the first restaurant we ate at when we arrived in Taxco. After just one bite, we knew we had to come back! We returned 2 more times during our stay, that's how great it was! The Mexican Italian fusion is brilliant, as you sit and savor the food, you're nestled in a space that feels like you're in Italy. The views from the top are great! You can see the iconic church. We had a variety of dishes from Lasagnas, Ravioli to Salmon. Our favorite was the lasagna (rajas con queso and Huauzontle). They had so many vegetarian options! They serve a delicious bruschetta as an appetizer. Finally, the chef and owner, Vio, is such a sweetheart! She has such a heart for her space and her cooking. We couldn't recommend this...
