The hotel is located in an almost perfect spot close to the Zocalo in the picturesque town.||||We were fortunate to be accommodated in the El Studio suite on the top floor of the hotel. The large and comfortable room has its own outside entrance and a private balcony.||||The furnishings provide a slightly rustic, very Mexican, feel with the bathroom having handmade Talavera tiles.||||Best of all is the view of the town, and, of course, Santa Prisca (the parish church).||||We had deliberately chosen to spend our first night of a month-long visit to Mexico in Taxco to be able to relax after a long series of flights. Following our landing in the early morning, we took a taxi from the airport directly to the bus station and then enjoyed a comfortable journey to Taxco in time for a late breakfast at a restaurant with a view (virtually everywhere in Taxco has a view).||||We had little interaction with the staff but found them to be very helpful when making enquiries prior to our arrival.||||The hotel breakfast provided a useful start to the day but will most certainly not satisfy anyone with a large appetite, comprising only juice, coffee and a bun.||||I experienced some problems with the shower which has a complicated hot water arrangement apparently relating to the use of solar heating. This wasn’t explained to us and resulted in our first showers being somewhat uncomfortable before my repeated enquiries finally resulted in someone coming to the...
Read moreThis is as lovely hotel, reasonably priced with an artistic flair in decoration. We recommend room 3 Los Libros - a corner spot on the main level where breakfast is served. Nice table and chairs outside our room for our use. Gorgeous view over Taxco. Breakfast is continental - just coffee/tea and croissants/jam. The only drawback for us are the many, many stairs up to the hotel (incredible views) and the many, many stairs down to where the action is for restaurants, shopping and Museo Spratling. My husband has trouble negotiating stairs at the best of times so it was wearing on our energy. If you are fit, there is no problem at all. The folks who work there were unfailingly polite and sweet. We enjoyed our stay very much. Taxis are super cheap, by the way - 25 pesos anywhere in town. So once we got down all the stairs in the hotel and on the winding streets, we were away to the races. No English TV stations.Wifi was fine in the hallways but not good in our...
Read moreStayed with my wife at “Secreto de Amor” (room 4). My sisters-in-law stayed at “Los Recuerdos” (room 5) and my brothers-in-law at “El Estudio”. Check-in was December 30 and check-out January the 1st. ||It is a cozy place one block from the center (zocalo) with friendly staff. Being so close to all the action also made it a little noisy at night. ||We had some minor issues with the room: |-pillows were too soft, so had to barrow a couple from the room next door.|-no direct access to the balcony as the other two rooms. We had to ascend 12 steps.|-bathroom door was out of frame and did not close correctly.|-toilet had an annoyingly hard button to flush.||If we had stayed at El Estudio I would have graded this review as Excellent, as that room didn’t have any of the aforementioned flaws and even had a refrigerator (which we lacked). El Estudio is slightly more expensive, but worth it.||It is a good spot to watch the New Year fireworks, but not handicapped...
