This place was the highlight of our trip. We were staying in Ixtapa and watched some YouTube videos from an American or Canadian couple that lives in Zihua. I’m glad we listened. It was so authentic and we got to eat on a secured cobble stone road just a few minutes walk from the main shops in El Centro. The food was on point and amazing and the owner Rodrigo was very gracious and even sat down with us to tell us his story and we took tequila shots that he provided on the house. We had already fallen in love with Zihua but the even cooler part of this was we met an awesome couple from Pennsylvania who we spent the entire dinner talking to. They were fantastic and in the process of building a house here. It was an amazing evening and capped off a great trip.
My suggestion is take your cab ride down to this restaurant. Have dinner then head to the shops in El Centro which is within a few blocks. Or take a cab to the beach area and main part of El Centro. Check it out then walk on the paved beach path to the restaurant. I love this place and can’t wait to get back! By the way. We had dinner for 2. A margarita and 3 beers for about $35 American. The tequila was on the house. Just the most authentic experience I’ve had in any city in...
Read moreWe almost walked by because there was no one here while next door was full, but thankfully two in our group went back to check the menu after being hailed by a very nice waiter. The menu was rather plain and didn't exactly impress, but the actual food was both artistically beautiful and delicious. I had the fish duo, a combination of mahi with cilantro sauce and tuna with hibiscus sauce (excellent!) that came with a scoop of rice. Thankfully I got a delicious Caesar salad first, almost as good as the one I make, because portion sizes were a bit small. I liked my lemonade, the wife's hibiscus margarita was ok, and tequila or mezcal shots were free after dinner. The atmosphere was very relaxing while sitting outside. Overall a success that I would be...
Read moreThere are no shortage of good restaurants in Zihautanejo and this is being added as one of our very favorites! La Travesia is relatively new, but they are doing everything right. The service, the FOOD, the friendly nature of Rodriguez, the owner...it was all perfect! We had Mahi Mahi in green sauce and it was DELICIOUS! They also have an excellent mushroom soup. We ate with friends and I tasted her tuna with hibiscus sauce and I'm getting that next time. So yummy and cooked to perfection! I know it's a toss-up to go to a new restaurant, but I'm here to tell you, you won't be disappointed! We will be repeat diners for sure! Thank you for a great dinner, drinks and...
