Just returned from our first trip to Zihuatanejo. My wife's brother and sister-in-law recommended we visit Puerta del Sol. It was their favorite place they said from a visit they had a year ago. We walked from our Villa. The service was friendly and welcoming with both the owner and a main presenter/server/chef. The atmosphere was great as we were overlooking the water and there for a sunset. We had two occasions for visits and had a great time with the food with some steak and prawns that were flambe. Very fun and all about the presentation. Delicious food. They will also create the Caesar salad dressing right at the table and that was fun and very good. We enjoyed the times and remember the food and of course unique flambe presentation...
Read moreThey say 'slow food' on the sign outside. Take that literally. We sat down and didn't get any food for about three hours.
Pros: Staff is very nice and welcoming They can speak English and the menu has English Some menu items are very tasty
Cons: Very very slow. Expect to be here for a few hours Some items aren't very good. Don't order the pasta, order the shrimp tacos. Quite expensive Small portions
I personally wouldn't recommend bringing kids here but if you want a quiet couples night out and you don't mind waiting and talking it...
Read moreWe dined at Puerta Del Sol on our last night in Zihuatenejo & it was a wonderful choice. The restaurant has very traditional decor & feel. We took the corner table at 6pm so we could enjoy sunset. It’s a peekaboo view but so pretty framed with palm trees. We had Caesar Salad & Tequila Shrimp- prepared at table, whole red snapper and Bananas Flambé. Every bite was delicious. This is very much a family run restaurant and you get that very at-home feel, everything was made with love and care. We will return on our next visit....
