So we stopped at this place to get a cold coconut water, when we saw a waiter pass by with a tray of golden brown cook fish we decided to stay for lunch. As we walked in we did notice quite a few people and as it is located on the ocean we found out that it is also a stop 4 tour groups snorkeling etc. As I was about to order the fish I was told that the wait for that would be about 50 minutes. We ask but there are so many trees out there of pre cook fish and they said that those are for the group and they order them ahead of time. So I went ahead and try to order something that would be quicker I ended up ordering the coconut shrimp and my life ordered a plate of seafood. We waited for about 30 minutes until our food finally came. Had I known that would have been the case I would have not have minded waiting a few more minutes for the fish. Chips and salsa didn't come out until about 20 minutes afterwards. We are still...
Read moreWe got to eat here as parynif our tour that we took. Our guide said that they caught and cooked the fish for our meal themselves the night before. I don't know if that was completely true but maybe because we were in their personal boat. The fish had a good flavor but did have lots of bones so we had to eat carefully. If I had taken my kids I definitely would have taken the bones out for them. The sides were rice, some plain noodles, and a small cabbage salad. They also gave us some good corn tortillas and a yummy really spicy salsa. We did also take a picture with a shark that was very docile and they only asked us to put a donation in a box but no specific amount. They did have a few groups there so it took a while for our server to come take our drink order and check for refills. My husband would order 2 beers at a time for each of us so that we wouldn't...
Read moreMy wife and I recently experienced an extraordinary dining experience at El Comején. Arriving just before sunset, we were seated at an outdoor table with a view of the western horizon. To start, we ordered ceviche, a dish we've tried numerous times on Isla Mujeres. However, the ceviche at El Comején surpassed all our expectations and became the best we've ever tasted!
For our main course, we shared Tikin-Xic, a Yucatan specialty featuring fish marinated in local spices for a day before being cooked. The flavors were exceptional, leaving us thoroughly impressed. Our server, Brian, provided exceptional attention, enhancing our overall dining enjoyment.
This meal at El Comejen undoubtedly ranks among the best we've ever had, and we look forward to returning. I wholeheartedly recommend El Comején to anyone seeking a delicious Yucatan cuisine experience on...
