We came in from a tour group in La Cruz where we all live - there was about a dozen of us. We used the restaurants panga, and the staff was nice - let us leave our stuff there and set up on some loungers. We had our own drinks and snacks but of course, wanted to utilize their food and drinks. Unfortunately, when the tabs came around, we encountered some issues. Many of us ordered the fajitas (they were good and the service was good too). We wanted to share ours and were brought out two plates. One should have been for another guests but it was brought to us. We thought it was split so we ate them. Then hers never came and we all eventually figured it was brought to me. We ate it all, so we got charged for two. Fair enough even though we asked for one. She ended up waiting and it eventually came. When the tab arrived, it was explained that 15% gratuity was added, and we could remove it or change it if we wanted to. I agreed to the 15% but then he actually added 15 onto the 15 for 30% My husband explained we didn't want or agree to that, and we were refunded. Another gal was up charged on her basic margarita. Then on the panga back they were wanting $100 pesos a person for a less than 50m ride. We felt we were fair in what was paid and the upcharging was unfortunate. The restaurant is nice and servers were good. So maybe it was just a few mistakes but watch your tabs. Hopefully it wasn't just trying to take advantage of some tourists and a few...
Read moreTL; DR: amazing seafood, service could be a little better. We regularly come when we get to Vallarta. As a party of 10, it was great that they could seat us directly upstairs with a view, but we came in the off season. Our waiter Roberto apologized for his English and then rattled off details of the food in English that exceeded what white table cloth dining had in PV. He was super clear and made sure we knew what we were getting, although their computer ordering for drinks had drinks going before he left the table so we could not make changes. Food took a while to come out and did not all land together. Like an additional 2-3 minute wait for tacos vs blackened fish or fish fillet? Maybe they staffed down for low season? The food was worth the wait and this topped the list of seafood on our trip. Their big especiales are huge, so skip appetizers if you go that way and plan time to consume them. The vegetarian in the group was accommodated well. Banana dessert was delicioso as was the Carmel banana. The price is a lot for lunch, but budget to make this the main meal and grab something...
Read moreI wish I had seen the mistreated parrots before we patronized this restaurant. In terms of food and drink, it’s what you expect from a large tourist type restaurant… not quality or much attention given to it. I would not recommend the margarita; it’s the only time I can remember not enjoying one. The guacamole was ok. The bathrooms were clean, and the view excellent. But then we saw the stressed out parrots in a small dirty cage with no sort of enrichment or space. There was no water either. They had pecked on their cage from boredom and its condition reflected that. They were also feather plucking, likely from stress. If it was not for the animal mistreatment, I may have give a 2 star simply because I feel like a 1 star can be aggressive, but animal mistreatment deserves a negative star if it...
