The best thing about the restaurant is that it's ocean front. However, the view doesn't make up for the lackluster service nor the food.
Service: The restaurant was not busy so we got the menus and drink orders fairly quickly. While studying the menu, we also noted that "tips are included in the prices" and was glad that we didn't need to worry about it at the end. However, when the final bill came, the waiter(s) asked for 15% tip b/c it was "not included." Even though we reminded that the menu said it was included, they insisted to include tip. Given that it's our holiday, we didn't mind paying for service but it did leave a bad taste.
Food: The worst part is perhaps the food. One of the items that caught our attention is fried calamari. When the calamari plate came, we were confused because it looked like it was leftover from other people's order.... bc the calamari were tiny.... like they were fried leftover bits of regular-size calamari. There were about 15~20 pieces mixed with random lettuce, tomatoes, and carrot strips. The price was approx US$13 (260 pesos) a plate! Hard NO. Please see pics for reference.
Playa Las Animas is lined with ocean-front restaurants and I cannot in good faith recommend this...
Read moreBeen here a couple of times, I just took the time to leave a review and saw they have horrible feed back, I guess they used to force the tip on you before, I've never notices but usually when I'm here is because I bring people so most times they pay for it, I just pitch in so I can't tell for sure but this time I did check the bill, the place is pricey but so are the other ones, you can only get here by boat so nothing new, we had Ceviche tropical and chicharrón de pescado, I mean it wasn't the best I've had but it was pretty good, my group liked their cocktails as well, the waiters, you can tell their locals, so don't expect top notch service, they're helpful but you have to push them, and they're eating right next to you then getting up and coming to your table lol. We paid 3300 for 4 people and only 2 plates. The rest was drinks. Last time we brought our own bottles and they were OK with that so we got the mixers from them. I did notice they scratched off the part on the menu whee it said tip was included with the bill, I still left 18%. I'll try los conos next time since they have way more and better reviews than this guys. But I can't say is been bad the times I've been there. Clean bath...
Read moreOur group included 17 people. Ages 2--62. Our boat landed in shore at 2:00pm. We were greeted immediately. The staff joined our tables so we could all sit together. The service was fast and accurate. The bill was itemized at the end. We paid with credit card, but left a cash tip. We were asked "...how would you like to tip?" This is a reasonable request. We were given lots of time to enjoy our beach front dining. The toilets were clean and modern. The hot water does not work at the sink. Only cold. (But...
