DONT GO HERE BEFORE READING FIRST. First of all this is a house, not a restaurant, not saying is bad, but you’ll have to ring the bell, and someone will pop out eventually and just look at you lol. You’d think is obvious you’re there to eat but no, they’ll ask if you have a reservation. Pretty annoying to me really, greet me first then ask me, had friends already there so they “let” me in. Once inside is just that, a house, you’ll be dining on the patio, bathroom is next to the kitchen, and the rest of the house is just there, I guess the live there full time. Second, the menu was super small, even tho they have a digital menu (for no reason apparently) prices are different and they only have half of it, we were there at around 4, with no other customers, but somehow they had gone thru pretty much everything, beer selection is a joke, just corona (only Mexican beer I wouldn’t even drink if they paid me) and some craft beer, cocktails are pretty much the same, they have 2 brands of each. Third, the food they didn’t have tomahawk nor short rib, you’re down to cabreria, which is over rated in Mexico and porter house. The said they had brisket but only in sandwich lol, don’t know why but they did and when we got the sandwich it was pulled pork, pancetta and bbq ribs which was mostly good, didn’t care for the pancetta too soggy and my steak, and I know this because I was watching when they threw it on the cold grill, was not on point, the coal was pretty much gone and the kid put some wood on it and immediately started flipping the steak, so it was pretty chewy, big NoNo when grilling my friend specially if you’re ordering medium, that grill must be scorching. Third, first drinks took FOREVER, (beer and Clamato that my friends had ordered) almost 20 min, only two kids working there and no tables like I mentioned, I wanted to go somewhere else right there and then but other friends had been waiting longer so they decided to just deal with it. Fourth, service, I guess this is why their rating is high, you do feel bad leaving an honest review that may hurt them, as another 2 tables got there they seem to wake up and everything went smoothly, I only saw 4 tables, don’t know if there’s more inside, everyone was super nice and attentive, and I do wish they would stock up on drinks and not “run out” before they even start the day, they open at 3:30 I think and you spend at least 2 hours there so I don’t know how they were able to sell most of their drinks within an hour. Fifth, pricing, is not cheap at all, I’ve been to most steakhouses in pv and their prices are pretty much the same if not higher than the rest but pretty much a weekend at your “expert bbq” buddy. Short rib $1000 a kilo (63usd) tomahawk I think was 1350 a kilo. Cabreria almost $500 for 400gms. Compare this to la vaca argentina, sonora prime etc. Where you do get everything on the menu, top notch service not to mention the facilities and the wait time even when packed. Our food took almost an hour here, considering mostly is premade is way too long, wanted to get an appetizer I don’t remember what we ordered but they were out of that too lol. So we had to just wait on an empty stomach hung over some of us and drinks we didn’t really want. That being said, I just wish I’d known all this before going there on an empty stomach. To the owners I wish you guys the best, I myself owned a steakhouse for years, just recently sold it and I can see you’re are hard working people and super nice but, just go to a similar place as a customer and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I always tip based on service and great service it was, from everyone including the owner.
So my recommendation now that you know this, CALL AHEAD of time, make sure you reserve and ask what they have available, including drinks, probably best if you call a day or 2 ahead. I will go back next time I’m in pv and ask for tomahawk and ribs a day ahead just to see if is true or they just took me for a ride. Good luck and see you soon I will of course adjust my...
Read moreThis was our favorite and most memorable dining experience in Puerto Vallarta. The atmosphere was so unique, and you literally feel like family since you are dining in the owner’s house! It is very intimate and reservations are necessary since there are only a few tables. They have a starfruit tree growing next to the tables and offered us fruit, which was neat. All of the meat was absolutely delicious with such a good smoked flavor. I especially loved the cole slaw, which was fruity and refreshing…I may never enjoy regular cole slaw again after this, haha. Potatoes and corn were also delicious. You need to visit! It can be a little tricky for taxis to find since it is in a residential area, but there is a sign right out front with a pig on it. The owners were also so friendly and sweet to our toddler, who started to run out of steam before the end of dinner and wanted to wander around. They brought him some extra little treats and let him walk around...
Read moreFINALLY a place in Puerto Vallarta that serves good quality, tasty, juicy steak for a reasonable price! My friend and I went for the promotion of 2 x $680 (pesos) rib eye (comes with asparagus, corn on the cob and mashed potato). We ordered chorizo to start and a bottle of house red to go with our meals. The food was delicious; the steaks meaty, tender and juicy, seasoned perfectly. It’s so hard to find good steaks here unless you’re willing to pay top dollar!
The ambiance is casual and relaxed, and the place seems to be run by a group of young men who are very attentive and welcoming but chill at the same time. In fact the vibe it gives is that perhaps these guys were friends living together who decided to turn their apartment into a place where people can come and have a BBQ in their backyard. SUPER COOL.
They offer different weekly promotions and I plan to try all of them! HIGHLY...
