Kensao — Restaurant in Jalisco

Incredible sushi. It's the best I've had in all of Mexico & I've been to quite a few places. The Kara sawa salad is AMAZING & the best sushi roll I've tried is the camaron 1. The miso seafood soup is also very delicous. Unfortunately the service can be hit or miss. We've had great experiences with a server named Uriel but every other time, something goes wrong. The host will seat us without menus or chop sticks & will forget all about us untill we get up & ask for menus. Other servers get out order wrong. I usually order Jasmine tea & other servers will bring out iced tea without asking if my tea was hot or cold. Same thing with sake. Other servers will take over 15 minutes to even acknowledge us then take our order & never check on us again. Fortunately, when Uriel is our server, this never happens. If it wasn't for the amazing sushi & Uriel, we would definitely look for another sushi place. So I DO recommend kensao but be prepared for slow & inattentive service unless you're lucky & get Uriel as your server. This restaurant came up as a suggestion on my feed from Google. It is near my Airbnb where I’m staying. I walked over. It’s upstairs way in the back of an upscale shopping mall. They initially wanted to seat me at the sushi bar, because I was dying alone. I can’t eat with my back to the room and I asked for a table and they grudgingly gave me one. I ordered a martini and salmon sashimi. The martini came right away and extremely wet as they say it was probably 20% vermouth and not my tastiest martini. In fact I ordered some water and didn’t finish it. The salmon sashimi on the other hand was excellent and extremely well prepared. The sushi chef brought it over to me and I ate it right away.
