Vagabundas — Restaurant in Jalisco

We recently went to the neighborhood of Versalles near zona romántica which has become the new gastronomic neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta.

That evening we checked out a restaurant named Vagabundas. We ate at one of the outside tables and ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed the vibe of this cute cozy restaurant. When it was time to order the food there is a section of the menu with Asian dishes and a section with Mexican dishes.

We stated with an order of pork dumpling for the table which were steamed and then pan sautéed and served with soy dipping sauce…exquisite. For the entrees two of us went Asian and two went Mexican. For the Asian an order of Mongolian beef and the other Kung Pao chicken, both came with the most flavorful steamed rice we think we ever had. The other two ordered Mexican, birria tacos and pork carnitas. The birria tacos were succulent and very savory. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. As for the pork carnitas, they were slow cooked for 8 hours. They were so good with so many layers of flavor.

The owner of the restaurant Jewels came out and said hello and asked how everything tasted. She also told us the the restaurant was almost three years old. We highly recommend Restaurant Vagabundas and will definitely return the next time we are back in Puerto Vallarta!

we have visited this restaurant at least four times during or one month stay in the Versailles area. We love the food and the service was very good to excellent. After trying a number of things on the menu, out favorite is the Kon Pao Chicken. Delicious with the perfect amount of spice. We enjoyed all the other Asian entrees as well. Would highly recommend this reasonably priced Asian Mexican fusion restaurant and we will be going there again at least once in the week we have remaining here! The only reason for a four star instead of a 5 in the "Atmosphere" category may be slightly unfair, when sitting at certain spots the road noise from the street can be annoying. Certainly not the restaurant's fault, suggest you sit further and in the section past the take-out counter, it is...

If you’re looking for incredible food and amazing happy hour deals, Vagabundas is the place to be. We tried the Japanese Veggie Udon Noodles with Tofu and the Sesame Chicken (substituted with tofu)—both dishes were bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. It’s rare to find vegetarian options this good, but they absolutely nailed it!

The happy hour drink specials are unbeatable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is super friendly and attentive, making it the perfect spot for a chill evening.
