Café Bar 500 Noches Mérida — Restaurant in Mérida

Poor Reception on our third visit- We called ahead to ask if there was live music to listen to. There was so we proceeded to the local. Upon arrival we were told we could be seated only outside. This was outside of the music area adjacent to the street traffic. The interior music listening area was all reserved except for the overflow section that which was empty. We were told it couldn’t be opened for us.

It was possible our non-posh attire or incorrect nationality or general appearance played a part in the lack of hospitality.

This was my third visit here. First two visits were for breakfast. First visit was great. Second visit was a surprise as we were served hard waffles from old batter. Time to get food out to us that day was not good. Third visit was short and very inexpensive :). We couldn’t tell how the drinks were, how the food tasted or how the waiter service was this night. Fourth future visit: We had planned a group of 10 this week for breakfast, coffee and cultural diversification. Those plans now will require a new location.

Also to note there were no customers visible inside or out at the time. There were 3 people in the closed section...

All was good, except for the children's play area. Worker in charge of play area was not tactful; my 6 yo was crying unstoppably since she yelled at him without providing adequate guidance to organize toys. When I approached her, she was argumentative and no empathetic, showing no courtesy or respect at all. Many patrons on the nearby tables observed the distasteful scenario, thus, I was obliged to bring my 2 children and friend back to our table. It was such an unexpected and unpleasant experience. Management should re-evaluate and place a worker who has the background and necessary interpersonal skills to work with children.

On the positive side, Ivana, our server, went above and beyond to provide us a much better experience. I would highly recommend...

I don't generally leave bad reviews but I had dinner at 500 Noches recently and found it very underwhelming. I'll echo what so many people here have said that the service is not very good. Aside from that, a friend and I were seated on the terrace where we ordered drinks --I had a Stoli martini which tasted nothing like vodka but more like vermouth and water. I sent it back and they returned it back to me table saying couldn't accept it back(?) I told them to take it away and that it was undrinkable but they charged me for it, anyway. My friend ordered a dry white wine which was far too sweet. The food came and it was cold and tasteless. Needless to say, we won't...
