Recent response to my review gave inacurate information. When I was there they indeed did have cervesa de barril. That beer came in a standard tarro with a handle, as seen in the photo. Perhaps they don't now, but they did have tap beers at that time, and it was flat. After the flat beer I ordered a misel, which they said I could not drink from the bottle, which is why I made the comments in the review below. It was odd, havivg two glasses, one a mason jar and one a standard tapered glass for one bottle of beer. I hope things have improved. They had just opened after the covid shutdown, so perhaps they were still making adjustments. I stand by my original review. I should also say that I was in Merida until March of 2023 and, as I said there were so many other choices of cantinas to go to I never found timer to rurned to Estado Seco as unfortunate as that is. Maybe next trip I will check it out again. Still one of the best botanas in Meida after all the years I have been coming here (since 1967), but also some changes in patrons, service. Everyone is friendly and accomidating. Seems less like a family run cantina, but hard to say on a busy Saturday afternoon. Now have draft beers, I ordered one, but it was flat. It is common here in Merida that they are still learning how to properly run and maintain taps. Caguama days are gone. Now have "misle" 1.2 liter bottles which cannot be sat on the table. Instead, are poured into used mayonase jars, which lack astetic appeal, and a second glass. Odd! (As a side note, misel is a good Yucateco Maya word; mis has two meanings in Maya, the domestic cat or broom, with broom the more traditional meaning since domestic cats were introduced by the Spanish + el, a generative suffix. Misel "the sweeper" is gaining popularity in other parts of Mexico for 1.2 liter beers, but is far from universal). Will I come back? Probably not with so many other cantinas that offer a more historic quality experience. Being in a continual "estado seco" I will miss the old days (pre-covid) when this was, witbout doubt, among the best traditional cantinas in Merida. (See flat beer in photo).

A nice cantina worth visiting! We just stopped for a beer but would definitely go again. We have recommended this place for visitors to Merida and have taken our family here right away when they got into the city. There are a few cantinas on this block so it’s easy to walk from one to another!

Legit neighborhood cantina, with botanas and solid beer selection. This is where Merida comes to start the evening. A good mix of folks and friendly vibe. Can't go wrong. This is where you want to be.
