What a great museum to visit, especially if you'll be going to Ek Balam and/or Palenque archeological zones. They have done a great job of treating those places in the context of the time they existed and within our modern context. In many places in the world, the ruins would be destroyed in favor of hanging up the most beautiful parts in a museum somewhere. This museum has used preservation and exhibition models to educate the audience. For the folks who prefer English, all of the exhibits are translated and included in downloads of Pdf files provided from QR code at the entrance, so you can follow along.

I hated it. Spent 20 minutes. Reading the reviews people stated that explanations were in both Spanish and English. Complete farce. Most pieces had no information or was only in Spanish. I wasn't in the mood to google translate everything and unfortunately the reviews stating you didn't need to were incorrect. You may as well just look at online pictures unfortunately. The architecture was the one in person thing worth viewing. Maybe I am spoiled to Museums after CDMX but this is my opinion on this Museum.

This place is so very beautiful, and you can stroll by it as many times as you want during your time in Paseo Montejo. Really, it's an architectural dream. For the museum, they have special pandemic hours, and I would advise you to check out their social media for any changes. As of January 2021, they are open Monday - Friday from 10am to 5 pm, so your last chance to go in is 4:30 pm. They take your temperature and they even gifted me some lovely postcards.

As others have said, there are little to no explanations in English or other languages so you're pretty much on your own. It's a great museum that's not too expensive, entrance fees are $95 pesos per person. There's no parking inside only on the street so you'll need to go around a few times to find a spot. Lots of really cool things to see in this museum and didn't really encounter the curmudgeon up front that many reviewers were talking about.

A must-see while in Mérida. This museum is a lovely collection of artifacts in an old colonial mansion. The focus is largely on the pyramids and how they featured in the lives of the ancient people of the Yucatan peninsula, along with various other interesting pieces. Upstairs there is artwork, photography, video and books which discuss the pyramids and ancient ways of life. The museum is small, and has a fair entry price of M$60.

This building is beautiful inside and out. Admission is free for those with an INAPAM card. There is an English guide to the exhibits...you scan the QR code to get it. The exhibits on the ground floor about ancient Maya hieroglyphic writing are very interesting. The exhibit of contemporary Mayan stitchery and fashion design is showcases current artists.
