We arrived late on the first night and were welcomed by Nayeli, who checked us in most efficiently. Located in a quiet street a short walk from the historic centre, the hotel is a colonial house converted into an 8-room inn. The front door opens straight into what looks like a private living room, beautifully furnished with just a desk for the receptionist, and going through there is a patio with luxuriant plants, a small pool, an open air terrace for breakfast and a kitchen opposite. Our room (No 5) was spacious and comfortable, and always spotlessly clean, with ample storage, two large double beds and a hammock - the Mayas do love their hammocks. We particularly liked the excellent lighting, both bedside, alcove and ceiling spots. The decor was attractive, with painted walls and a pretty tiled washbasin. As it was February, we slept with just the ceiling fan and did not have to turn on the air conditioning.Breakfast included fruit, toast with butter and jam, and freshly cooked eggs or pancakes. The staff were friendly and professional; Rene helped with the breakfast as well as manning the reception, while Argelia, who speaks excellent English, offered good advice on local sights and activities.|We spent four days touring and three days in Merida. We felt perfectly safe, and Merida has plenty of cultural attractions. It was always nice to come back to the hotel and cool off in the pool, which we usually had to ourselves. We would certainly recommend Marionetas...
Read moreBeautiful boutique hotel with potential!
We stayed here for 1 week, in town for a wedding in Merida and vacation. The hotel is quaint and beautifully designed — from the entryway to the pool area to the modern, clean rooms. The included breakfast was nice: fruit/yogurt/granola and eggs + toast. Delicious, if not more American than we expected. Something more authentic could be a nice!
Coffee and water is included in the room only on the first day. For the room price, we’d recommend including this every day.
The staff was kind and friendly, and even helped us find some tape and scissors to wrap a gift. For a small, boutique hotel they could do a bit more to provide recommendations but overall were very friendly.
Our shower (room 11) didn’t work properly. It sprayed out to the side getting the bathroom area wet. We also learned you have to let the water run for a few mins for it to get hot. The staff seemed to know about this issue and it should be fixed. The bathroom door also slammed whenever you shut it which was annoying but not a huge deal.
Overall, we really liked having this quiet space and pool mostly to ourselves to relax after a long day of sightseeing (cenotes, Uxmal, Merida downtown, etc) A little more attention to the facilities and guests would go a long way. Thank you Hotel...
Read moreUnfortunately, the room was very dirty when checking in on our first day, and after asking for it to be cleaned again (which the staff were very nice and gracious about), nothing changed, they only changed sheets on the bed. Upon walking into the room on the first day, there were toothpaste stains behind the sink, the sink was loose, there were unwashed cups, mold covered the bathroom floor, the showerheads were broken, there were hairs from previous guests on the bed and in the shower, dried brown flaky spots on the floor in front of the toilet, many bugs made their way into the room, I could hear all other guests above me and outside, the pool was dirty, and the floor was un-mopped upon check-in. The room was set up nicely at first glance, and the staff were very nice, but I felt uncomfortable staying in this room most of the time.
Another thing to note is that they provide two tiny water bottles, and luckily you may ask for more, but there is no way to fill up a water bottle at this hotel. It is great that breakfast is included although it is limited and lacking fruit some days, the lobby and check in is nice, and there are no shortages of towels available if you’re traveling to cenotes, and it’s in a...
