This restaurant was just a couple of blocks from the house we rented in Merida, so it was the first place we went for dinner. They specialize in seafood, and in particular, shrimp. Since we were not sure what to get, we decided to just try all the tacos they offer: 5 different flavors of shrimp, and one of fish. The fish and one of the shrimp was simply breaded, one was with garlic, one spicy (Diablo), one with vinegar (tasted like ceviche), and one with caramelized onions. All were delicious (I think the Diablo and caramelized onion varieties where my favorites. They also had a bunch of tether stuff on offer, but we only tried the tacos. There beer was a different story. We started out with whatever they had on tap (they offer either light or dark options only, we got the light). Not sure if we just got a bad batch, or if it always like this, but the beer was definitely off, and we did not have much before ordering Pacificos instead. On the up side, they were very nice, and did not charge us for the first beers. All told, with 12 tacos, two beers, and four bottles of water, the total bill was only about $25 USD. I would definitely recommend this place, just order your...

I am so glad that a tour guide recommended this place!!! I visited on the same day she recommended it (December 27). They serve traditional Yucatán food. This was definitely one of my favorite two restaurants visited in Merida. They are definitely friendly to tourists and the atmosphere is very comfortable and positive. The waiters seemed hardworking, attentive, and friendly.

The prices were reasonable, portions good, and the FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING. I ordered Sopa de Lima and Papadzules con Loganiza. I also ordered a few Micheladas which were great. This was my first time experiencing “snacks” in a restaurant. The tour guide mentioned it but for ever order they bring what had to be at least 4 or more snacks which were traditional food samples so not only did I get to try the foods I paid for, but also other traditional food such as Kibis, a type of bread, and more. I enjoyed all of the snacks and you will definitely be full leaving here. I was so happy and hope they keep doing the snacks for guests.

I cannot say enough how great the service was, how comfortable it was, and I cannot wait to go back. It was a top highlight of...

From the local musicians playing in the background, to the unique drinks offered on menu; we must give it up to the assortment of appetizers they include with your stay.

As we came in, the staff was more than happy to put some tables together and even were considerate enough to seat us away from the sound system; this so we might be able to converse as a group.

That type of flexibility and great customer care never goes unnoticed.

Even so, the biggest impression left was that of their keen eye for an empty appetizer dish. As you finish with a certain appetizer, they immediately bring you another with out you having to ask. Very impressive!

Even after paying the bill, (which was more than fare) they brought us more dips for the remainder chips.

“This place is a staple in this city and will continue to flourish as time goes on.”

We recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to feel the love this great city cultures thru people, and businesses like this. We are excited to see you again, keep influencing for good, and continue to see people for who they are meant to be.

El Lucero is a Merida favorite, and its easy to see why. Ambiance is pitch perfect, no matter where you sit, inside or outside. Its festive for all the right reasons. Its romantic, intimate and simultaneously riotous. You bring the mood, El Lucero will set the stage with the food, the service, the ambience, and live music. The tapas like plates bring flavor en masse, delicate, nuanced, and masterful. It was feels like your treated to every spice in the spice rack, but its never heavy handed, it just right. From house platos, to tacos, and tostadas, there's a taste for everyone. Come and enjoy, make reservations if you can, people like El Lucero, a lot, so do I.

So we went for early dinner. (American dinnertime 5pm). We ordered our drinks. Then, they start bringing out a bunch of small plates. We didn't realize this place had botanero hours. So in Central Mex, from 12 -3 restaurants will serve various small plates as you order drinks. The more alcohol you consume the more food they bring out. It was FANTASTIC. Note: you have no control or say, what they bring you out. You have to eat what they serve you. If not just don't eat it. Catered more to locals or Mexican nationals, which we are. Or unafraid/adventurous Foreigners.
