Service great ..food average at best. You can eat it but the pasta dishes we had were not authentic. Basically Italian food made with Mexican ingredients.
In response to the owners response: No need to visit your home town, when both people at the table are Italian and have spent their entire lives eating this food home cooked from our nonno's, nonna's and parents kitchen tables. Safe to say we have good taste for what is good and what isn't and I'm not saying yours isn't good, just the flavors were very new, and were more on the side of Mexican than Italian for my dish. I have had plenty bad meals over the years back in the homeland, so dropping that doesn't mean the food will taste better and some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten was in Nepal, so making very authentic food on limited supplies is very possible, as Mexico is a bit for connected than Nepal. I did appreciate the bread and truffle and noticed that, thank you for your effort there. The food wasn't bad, and I appreciate you have a limited supply and you're making it work. My pasta was as simple as pasta can get, olive oil, garlic, and chili and it tasted of consommé powder and was very watery with very little olive oil flavor. Almost tasted like the cook was using a Olive-pomace Oil. The other dish she assumed would be a white wine sauce, but couldn't taste it, the noodles were lacking flavor, and had many clam shells but not many clams and many of them were still closed, which is why we said average tasting. Again great service, wonderful space and good wine selection. Thank you for you response and maybe see you on a flight back to Italy in the...
Read moreWe finally checked out Eureka after hearing so many good things. First, the restaurant is beautiful. Loved the atmosphere. Seemed to have a large selection of wines to choose from, however we got the gin & tonic and the aperol spritz. Very good spritz! We enjoyed the house bread and oil, they give you. We ordered the brushetta to start and the mushrooms. Both were pretty good, but not amazing. For our mains we got the Arugula/Pesto Risotto and the mushroom gnocci. I have to say, while mine looked great, it was very very salty. Now that might work for some people, but I don't put salt on anything and it almost overwhelmed the entire dish. The gnocci was cooked more al dente than we normally like, but it tasted good. The Tiramisu was delicious! -recommend. The staff were very pleasant. All in all, I would have to say its a nice place aesthetically, somewhat expensive, but sadly does not live up to the hype...
