CDMX Eats 2024 #68, Cafe/bakery #22, Brunch #6: Originally found this place when viewing an apartment nearby. Came back due to the positive reviews re: Sándwich de huevo en focaccia and seemingly too-good-to-be-true prices.
The good: the focaccia breakfast sando was very, very good. The coffee was very above average, if not great (flat white & americano). The rol de arándanos we ordered was also very tasty, and the lamination was great.
Service/people were solid. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Cool vibe with mostly parklet seating.
The "bad" or things to know: unfortunately the prices on their website are a little out of date. Prices are ~7-10% higher as of April 2024. Focaccia sando $128 vs $120, flat white $54 vs $45. This isn't a dig at the business rather a head's up. I think the quality here justifies the prices, but I do think it's a touch high for the area (Escandon).
I would/will happily come back. I will be hard pressed to try ordering something new next time as I really enjoyed everything we got. With that said, I'd like to try their croissant, chocolatín, and...

Dave’s Home Bread is a hidden gem that delivers on every level — from the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by the warm, comforting aroma of fresh-baked goodness. The bread is truly something special: perfectly crusty on the outside, soft and flavorful inside — clearly made with love and serious skill.
The standout for me? The croque madame. It’s nothing short of perfection — rich, creamy béchamel, perfectly crisped bread, and a golden egg on top that ties it all together. It’s balanced and deeply satisfying.
What truly elevates the experience is the outstanding service. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. you feel taken care of.
Dave’s Home Bread is the kind of place you can’t wait to return to. A...
Read moreCute place, has potential but the eggs were cooked with extremely rancid oil and the sandwich was sours, I couldn’t eat it. The girl at the counter well, you can tell she hates her job and the service terrible. I did tell them nicely that the oil was rancid after paying for the uneaten meal. She didn’t care at all! UPDATE: It’s a shame that the owner didn’t hear in my review that the oil was rancid. I am a professionally trained chef and know what rancid oil tastes like. They all just ignored the fact that I paid for an uneaten meal, I took one bite and was so grossed out. I saw they had a bottle of oil by the stove they were using to cook with, sometimes oil can go rancid from the heat. This was my experience regardless of what the owner says is true or not, he...
