We chose this restaurant because of good reviews and a nice looking terras based off the photo's, while the prices seemed reasonable. In person, the establishment clearly tries to cater to a high-class customer, with a large, modern interior and neatly dressed servers. However, we found several elements strongly disturbing: -first and foremost, the prices. Yes, the prices of the food are reasonable. The prices of the drinks were not. We didn't realize this, though, until it was too late, because -there is NO drinks menu. The waiting staff happily invites you to order an appetizer, a drink, a second drink, a digestive, invites you to upgrade your cocktail to the mango-variety because it is 'so much better', but neglects to inform you of the financial side of things. With 1 appetizer and 2 glasses of wine each (without any wine-menu, mind you), drinks were 65% of the final bill, without propina of course. -while staff clearly did try and weren't to blame for the sour taste the bill left, they were clearly not trained at the level that would be expected for the abovementioned behaviour. Simple etiquette like presenting the wine bottle before serving, clearing empty glasses of the table when serving new ones or waiting untill everyone is done eating before clearing the table did not happen.
The food was certainly ok, as were the drinks, but we left feeling this establishment survives off of expecting (and pushing clients) to to make uninformed decisions. Go to a nice taqueria instead, or go to a real...
Read moreAte here a few days ago and can laugh about it now. Mostly because AMEX paid for the meal with a statement credit.
This place lacks any self-awareness. Pretentious, huge portions and average at best produce. The restaurant looked to be about 30% full, yet service was rushed. Our main courses came out as soon as we finished the starters.
I suspect the main course should have been sizzling, however, it was likely left on the hot plate for some time. The restaurant was so underwhelming and disappointing that we did not even order my favourite dessert. We were done in 1 hour, in comparison to the 2.5 hours we spent for dinner at Balcón del Zócalo.
Guadiana really sums itself up in the end. Providing a complimentary shot of cheap chocolate tequila liqueur. Decanted into a small bottle to be served at the table.
