Excellent Pad Thai (one of the best in CDMX), but their service deteriorated throughout my visit. In the streets of Roma Sur, Nane Thai has a limited menu but includes all the classics one would expect from a Thai restaurant. I was instantly acknowledged and seated at the only table not "reserved," since seating inside was all booked up. I sat in an awkward area that seemed more like a garden than an actual dining space. Nonetheless, I was given a menu and had my order taken soon after by a server who was very impersonal and didn't show any emotion.
I was served my Thai tea, which was perfectly balanced and not too sweet—I really enjoyed it. However, the server who took my menu was idling around me the entire time while my food was being prepared, which was a bit intimidating and made me feel uncomfortable. When the main entrée arrived, it was served with peanuts, salt, and spices on the side, which I appreciated. The Pad Thai (with chicken, in my case) was delicious, and I was especially a fan of the noodles. The lemon provided, although looking fresh, didn't squeeze a single drop.
The portion was decent, but in the end, I was left with more chicken than noodles—I would have preferred more noodles in this case. The music was a bit loud even when sitting outside, but it had an okay vibe. After finishing, the idling waiter suddenly disappeared, and I did not see any staff to acknowledge me so I could get the bill. After asking for the bill, my plate was taken away, and they almost took my drink—even though I wasn't nearly halfway done with it—which I thought was rude. I paid, and the server had an attitude afterward.
It’s a shame that while the Pad Thai was fantastic, the service was impersonal and somewhat rude. Prices were fair at $220 for the Pad Thai and $60 for the tea, but it’s disappointing that the overall service didn’t match the quality...
Read moreChef Nan's newly opened restaurant in Roma Sur is nothing short of extraordinary. Having known Chef Nan from her early days experimenting with Thai dishes in Mexico, we were thrilled to see her passion and talent culminate in this charming dining spot.
Chef Nan's culinary journey began in a Facebook group where she shared her innovative takes on traditional Thai cuisine. Her dishes quickly became a weekly staple for us, so the news of her restaurant opening was a delightful surprise.
The green curry stands out as a personal favorite, perfectly balanced in flavor and spice, closely followed by the rich and aromatic Penang curry. The restaurant's intimate setting allows diners to witness the culinary magic firsthand, offering a unique and engaging dining experience. Chef Nan and her team are always ready to discuss each dish and accommodate dietary needs, showcasing their dedication to customer satisfaction. My gluten allergy was handled with exceptional care, and the adjustments made to our dishes were seamless.
The Thai tea is a must-try, offering a refreshing complement to the meal, and the sticky rice dessert is simply not to be missed—it's the perfect ending to an unforgettable dining experience.
Given the restaurant's popularity, reservations are highly recommended. Chef Nan's Thai Cuisine in Roma Sur promises an intimate and authentic culinary adventure that is worth...
Read moreI think this place is just OK in terms of taste, not that good but not bad either… also slightly overpriced. I went during lunch right as it opened and sat by the bar, you can see the chefs cooking in front of you. I ordered a pad thai, thai tea, and mango sticky rice (total ~520 pesos).
PAD THAI: 6/10 Good amount of chicken but the overall portion size could have been bigger, maybe more noodles. It was also very sauce heavy which made it taste overly sweet and sour. There was also sugar on the side of the dish that you could mix in that I did not use or like, I’ve never seen that at any Thai restaurant or in Thailand so that was a bit strange to me. I probably wouldn’t order this again.
THAI TEA: Too sweet.
MANGO STICKY RICE: 6/10 While the mango was fresh and sweet, there was so little mango, not even half of a whole mango. (In the picture is half of the mango left after I ate 3 slices). Also way too expensiver for what you get.
Also, they charged me a takeaway fee for taking the mango sticky rice to go which surprised me… I’d be open to trying this place again maybe for their other dishes but I was not impressed during this visit unfortunately. I felt like I could get way better food considering the amount of...
