Peltre Lonchería (Polanco) — Restaurant in Mexico City

I usually eat gluten-free due to an autoimmune issue*, but I have a weakness for almond croissants, which I sometimes make an exception for, so they have to be really good for it to be worth the infraction. This one was pretty good. Here they call them “croissant de marzapan”. It was generous in size. When it arrived it felt a bit hard to the touch, it was already 1pm after all, so I asked for it to be warmed briefly which did the trick. The pastry was delicious, buttery, light and flaky. The “marzapan” however was way too sweet for my taste. More sugar than almond. All in all yummy enough to eat 2/3rds if it. I tried to find something like a small flat white or a small cappuccino on the menu as I don’t like my coffee very milky, especially when UHT milk is the standard, which is the case all over Mexico. Their smallest cups are huge. They offer a cortado, which is similar to a macchiato. I explained to the waiter what I wanted, a double shot coffee with a small amount of milk, like a piccolo, and they got it right. The green juice is delicious! It feels like just the thing I need to stay healthy during my travels. I appreciated the excellent and friendly service and extra effort to satisfy the foreigners special requests. I look forward to trying the many delicious looking dishes on the menu. Lot’s of typical Mexican dishes, like sopes con nopales, chilaquiles, sopa de tortilla, etc. The ambiance is modern and clean. A few people on laptops, a large family group having a late breakfast, some people sitting outside for coffee. Wifi is good! I was given a code for 2hrs free Wifi. Es la primera vez que voy a desayunar a este lugar. En general los alimentos son de buen sabor. En este caso pedí "Huevos con machaca a la mexicana" el precio es de $169.00 recordar que es Polanco, (lo digo por los precios) Personalmente a mi me gustó el sabor, vienen acompañados por aparte por una porción muy pequeña de frijoles refritos, los cuales el sabor es normal, nada espectaculares, sólo son para acompañar los huevos embarrándolos en las tres tortillas de harina que te dan, también por aparte viene una salsa de chile guajillo que no pica (bueno para aquellos que no gustan del picante, malo para los que están acostumbrados al chile) Me pedí un jugo de naranja grande lo bueno es que son naturales, el precio es de $89.00 el chico es de $65, conviene el grande por el precio, también pedí un café, es bueno normal $52.00 El servicio fue muy bueno, al menos en mi caso siempre pendientes, y cuando tuve un tema con el jugo, fueron prestos para resolver lo que les señale. La observación que tengo para los que vayan es, que si están "muy hambrientos" pues a lo mejor no se llenan con lo que pidan, pero eso se puede resolver con su pan de dulce y específicamente con las conchas que son de muy buen tamaño, claro si te gusta el pan con eso completarán el desayuno, sino pues puede ser que se queden con ganas de algo más. El lugar a mi parecer (puedo equivocarme) es más para platicar y/o llevarte tu computadora o tener una reunión, y las anteriores acompañadas de un desayuno que no es de grandes proporciones como otros lugares. (bueno para los que desayunan poco y regresan a la oficina sin sentirse con el "botonazo". NO tan bueno para aquellas personas que la "traen atrasada" y están hambrientos.) Para los que les afecta el ruido de la música, la tiene a buen volumen y pueden platicar sin problema. Al final, los huevos con machaca, el jugo de naranja y el café. Fueron $298.00 sin propina. P.D. We liked Peltre. But we notice that they are very inconsistent in the communication and food. One day the omelette with chilaquiles was very salty, the next day it was lightly salted. Without the inconsistency I would give it 5 stars. Would be nice if they would use intact tea cups, instead of cracked ones.

Today was the 5th time (and last time 😂) we came for breakfast. The chilaquiles omelette was cold. Maybe the owner could look into that. They seem to have new...
