We were really excited to try this Brazilian restaurant with buffet and all-you-can-eat meat cuts.
We booked a table at 6:30 and arrived just before our reserved time. The place was super busy and we were asked to wait for the table. This wait ended up being around 15 minutes which wasn’t really ideal considering we had booked in advance.
We were then shown to our table downstairs in the main buffet area. We were given a small table next to where the waiters were bussing finished plates which wasn’t ideal but as I said before, it was really busy so we were ok with it. It seemed like most local people came in large groups for special occasions.
I speak Spanish so communication was fine with the waiters and we were told the system of receiving meats and the buffet etc.
We ordered a bottle of wine, but unfortunately they did not have it and so offered an alternative. Perhaps most local customers don’t order wine so they don’t have that much stock.
The service was ok, our waiter was nice and checked in on us throughout the meal. However, other servers would come to offer pieces of meats to the table, and this is when something strange started.
I’m not sure whether this was entirely on purpose or coincidental, however I am white and my partner is Asian, and it was very obvious that they were giving me much larger cuts of meat than my partner. It was so obvious at some points that it was almost comical, I had almost like a steak of beef where my partner had 3 tiny slivers of meat cut off. Of course we could have asked for more, but we didn’t really feel the onus was on us to do so. It was pretty obvious…
Now, if everything had been okay after our meal, I’d have been comfortable giving this place at least a 4 star review as we did enjoy our dining experience.
HOWEVER, the next morning, we both awoke around 4am with painful stomachs and were visiting the toilet in 10 minute intervals.
Although we did not have to visit a doctor, I would guess that we received some kind of food poisoning from either the meat, the buffet or something else. We had to spend the whole next day in our hotel room as we couldn’t hold any food down and had to have water/pepto bismal delivered to our room.
I’m not sure if the meats were not cooked at the correct temperature or whether there was some kind of contamination, however, this really took a toll on us the...
Read moreWe went there on a thursday with my husband, my brother and my parents. My husband is from Germany so he doesn't talk that much spanish. (We were just visiting my parents) The restaurant first impression was cozy and clean, the salad bar had some good dishes to offer, my problem is when the meat started coming, when the waiters noticed my husband started to talk in english they kinda ignored him, which was really sad due to the fact that he was trying his best to communicate with them. Also we spent aaaaaall afternoon asking for an specific kind of cut and they always said it will come now, we are sending it now, its in its way. It never arrived. I would rather have heard we dont have it today than hearing 20 times it was almost there. meanwhile we were eating an entertainment person arrived, installed his computer and microphone next to us and started to "sing" if you can call it that. His microphone was really loud and although we asked him to lower it down a little bit he never did. We asked then for the speakers to at least be moved a little away from our table, (they were next to us) they also said yes but never did. The service from the dessert lady was the best one, she was nice to my husband, funny with my mom and always with a smile. I wish I could remember her name, cause she was the one who saved...
Read moreI had some reservations about trying this Brazilian grill because of some of the reviews, but I'm very glad we did. The food was really delicious, and there was a large variety to choose from. I have had picana at Brazilian rodizio restaurants at twice the price that were not as good. The pineapple was simply to die for. The brisket was better than the best Sunday roast. If I had one critique it would be that the website does not state the correct current closing time, and the price for the full dinner is now $520MX per person, not the $450MX displayed online. Regardless, it is still a great value, and I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. I will recommend to friends and family when they are in town. It bests the rodizio restaurants in Las Vegas which are twice the price, and ties with my other favorite of the same name in Salt Lake City. Well done. ...
