————Were told we tipped too little————-

Food was good. Nice little place. What ruined the restaurant for me was towards the very end when paying the bill. We paid with card and our waiter asked it we wanted to leave a tip. I said that I wanted to leave a tip in cash (pesos since we wouldn’t need it after anymore). We paid, and handled him our tip money. He looked at it and said that usually the tip was suppose to be of a higher percentage because they pooled in the tips and divided them among the crew. He said that since the tip was so small he would have to pay in order to cover the pool tip percentage. I let him know that what we had left and thought it was an okay tip honestly. ( they did mess up my drink: I asked for a cold coffee and was handled a hot one, of course he didn’t bother to notice this). Anyways he put the bill on the table and reluctantly grabbed it and said a comment along the lines of : “ well if you don’t want to tip more, oh well, I’ll just have to pay out of my own pocket.”

This left a bad taste honestly. Ruins the meal that we just had.

I’ve been a server, I understand. Everyone chooses their own profession.

I cannot believe that tips are demanded now. This was an older gentleman who waited for us. Will...

Flight delayed? Recently divorced? Stuck in a job you despise? Or just generally hate your life? This is the place for you.

Went to this establishment whilst my flight was delayed, what an experience. My partner and I decided it was best to stick with the local cuisine as it would be better than the "Italian" food they serve here. You can imagine our surprise when taco El pastors came out looking like chopped up crayons. In all fairness they did taste alright for airport food.

The real highlight was the masterpiece I will call the nachos. Imagine driving down a country road, pulling over to a gas station, ordering a plate of nachos with extra cheese sauce from a guy named Billy-Bob. That is what the nachos were like and I wish I was joking about the gas station cheese sauce.

It wasn't exactly cheap either, 700 pesos for two people. I actually wrote that the service was reasonable until our waiter pushed our payment back at us to say we did not tip enough and stood there until we gave him more....

SCAM! AVOID.

the waitress wouldn't take our order and insisted we order another dish twice the price. They intentionally lied about the cheaper dish not coming with additional condiments so we would order the higher priced dish.

We noticed another table have the dish we wanted with the condiments, when we confronted the waitress she said she misheard what we said and refused to exchange the dishes.

Then the bill!!!

The waitress said we had to pay the optional service charge and if we did not she would have to pay out of her pocket. And if not she would be fired. We begrudgingly paid the 10% tip. After this she wasn't happy it was not 15% and wouldn't allow us to speak to the manager.

We waited a little while outside and until she wasn't there to speak to the manager.

He said that the service charges are optional and no waitress would be fired if it wasn't paid.

Overall the worst restaurant experience I've had in Mexico. Please avoid this restaurant when in the...

Great food! A place to sit and since you are eating you can remove your mask! I don’t speak Spanish so i was grateful that the man (in the photo) spoke English. Even though his job was to stand outside the restaurant and essentially pull travelers into his eatery instead of the competition, he patiently answered my questions about the food and how long it would take to get it so I would not miss my flight. He was personable and friendly and I enjoyed a delicious lunch before my flight As for the waiter, he was annoyed when I only ordered water to drink with my meal. He did not speak English and he was not very happy. But it is a busy restaurant so I am sure he was doing his best. He did manage to ask if I wanted him to add 10 or 15% to the bill though. Clever restaurant tactics that I am seeing everywhere these days! I was glad to see the food was fresh. No brown or wilted lettuce here!

This place is a scam! Avoid if you’re a tourist because they will try to cheat you. We asked for five bottles of water and they brought us very small bottles of Fiji water and charged us 180 pesos or $9 a piece. We noticed they brought all the other tables much larger bottles and when we checked the price, they were 1/2 what we paid. I also asked for a martini con la mas barata, or the cheapest vodka, he said they could only make it with the Grey Goose and not the vodka I preferred, which of course was 1/2 the price. Sorry, but a vodka martini is made with vodka of preference just as a margarita can be made with tequila of choice. Anyway, they knew I was probably a naive tourist, but not that gullible although they did get us for five $9, 8 ounce waters or $45…so I guess they were successful…avoid, avoid, avoid!

I had a mixed experience at Salute Food & Bar. The food was genuinely good — flavorful and well-prepared, definitely worth trying if you’re in the area. The service by Alex was okay throughout the meal, nothing exceptional but generally fine. However, things took a turn when it came time to pay. After already tipping fairly, Alex began pushing for more, which felt really unprofessional. For a place that’s packed 24/7 and clearly doing well, that kind of behavior gives off a tourist trap vibe. It left a bad taste after what was otherwise a decent meal. Would I go back? Maybe for the food, but I’d be cautious about the service.
